Symbiosis Gathering 2016: Family Tree – Faces of Symbiosis – Please Comment!

Symbiosis Gathering – Family Tree 2016

As I embarked on this for the first time, I had an idea of how I wanted to cover the event.  Originally, I planned on taking my kids and outfitting them with Go Pro cameras. I wanted to tell the Symbiosis story from their perspective…
We all know that things change and my kids were not able to attend…next time.  I racked my brain during the eight hour drive to Oakdale. Knowing that 2016 is the last year Symbiosis is at Woodward Reservoir and I wanted to do something different…I knew the story had to be special…
It came down to two questions…
How can I tell a story that people would want to read about?
And…
How can I show the world a perspective that is interesting and captures such beautiful experience while maintaining the integrity of our beloved festival culture?
It hits me like a ton of bricks…
is not about my story.
It is about 20,000 stories…20,000 experiences of the people that helped bring this festival to life. From the crew that labored for weeks before hand to the attendees that showed up on Sunday for just one day and everyone in between…everyone has a story that is unique to them.

I inform every person I capture of my idea:
Your picture will be assigned a number…When you find your numbered picture, please introduce yourself, tell your number and…if you are comfortable, tell us your Symbiosis story.
For the first time ever… Freaks will open this post to comments so that you might tell us your story and share a moment…from your Symbiosis life.
Or just feel free to browse.
