Miami electronic music artist and entrepreneur Eddy Palermo has officially entered the Guinness World Records after becoming the first person in history to complete an ultramarathon while DJing live. The unprecedented achievement, dubbed BPMATHON, brought together two of Palermo’s biggest passions — electronic music and endurance sport — in an eight-hour test of physical and mental endurance.
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Palermo ran 46.7 kilometers while continuously DJing for eight hours at The Underline, Miami’s 10-mile linear park and urban trail stretching from Brickell to Dadeland. The landmark public space, located beneath the Metrorail, has evolved into a major community corridor where residents and visitors gather to run, walk, cycle and enjoy the outdoors.
The challenge didn’t end when Palermo completed the initial eight-hour run. The following day, despite the physical toll of the effort, he returned to a treadmill to complete the additional distance required to reach his 50-kilometer target.
BPMATHON was livestreamed throughout the challenge, allowing viewers around the world to follow Palermo’s record attempt in real time. Making the feat even more demanding was the custom-built, self-pushed DJ rig he used throughout the run, allowing him to perform live while simultaneously covering the distance.
The mobile setup featured AlphaTheta’s OMNIS DUO controller, while WAVE EIGHT speakers provided the public with the soundtrack as Palermo moved through The Underline.

“That was a wild ride. That was the longest DJ set I’ve ever played, and the 2nd longest run in my life. Doing both at the same time is hard to describe. Not to mention this was peak Miami summer heat and I pushed a 70lb cart the whole time. Sometimes I was deep in the pain cave and would go ‘Oh no…I have to DJ right now’ as the song was ending,” Palermo says.
Born in Miami to Cuban and Italian parents and raised in Weston, Florida, Palermo has spent much of his life at the intersection of music, sport and entrepreneurship. His connection to electronic music began as a teenager after discovering Ultra Music Festival, eventually leading to countless hours spent at Club Space and a career spanning events, sales and business.
Endurance sport has played an equally important role in his personal journey. Between 2020 and 2025, Palermo completed 14 endurance races, including seven Ironman competitions and seven marathons. That experience helped develop the discipline, resilience and mental strength that ultimately became the foundation for BPMATHON.
“The most special part of BPMATHON was how many people came out to run and/or support. The energy in the air was incredible, and it’s all thanks to everyone that came out to support. I’ve always loved endurance sports because it challenges me to find new versions of myself. In completing this world record, it ignited a fire in me to see what’s possible with other endurance feats that can be done while DJing,” Palermo shares.
But the Guinness World Record was never intended to be the sole purpose of BPMATHON. Palermo created the initiative as a way to encourage people to step away from screens, get outside, move their bodies and reconnect with the passions that make them feel alive.
The event also raised money in support of Friends of The Underline, the Miami-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming public spaces into opportunities for healthier, more active lifestyles. Through running, biking, walking and other forms of movement, the organization encourages communities to spend more time outdoors and build stronger connections with their surroundings.
That mission became an important part of BPMATHON, turning what could have been a highly personal endurance challenge into a community-driven event centered on movement and wellness.
“The best feeling ever is people reaching out saying that it was their longest run they’ve ever done. That’s the deeper reason for all of this; letting others know that they can do whatever it is they want in life, and inspiring them to get outside and do more than they thought possible. We’re excited about the future of BPMATHON. We’re already planning the next one as we speak,” says Palermo.

At its core, BPMATHON represents the collision of two seemingly different disciplines: the physical endurance required to run an ultramarathon and the concentration needed to continuously perform a live DJ set. By bringing the two together, Eddy Palermo has transformed a personal challenge into a larger platform built around music, movement and community.
The Guinness World Record marks only the beginning. With plans already underway for future BPMATHON events around the world, Palermo aims to build a global movement that promotes positive lifestyle choices, encourages people to push beyond their perceived limits and demonstrates just how far passion and discipline can take you.
