Twice Grammy-nominated producer, composer and electronic music visionary Andrew Bayer returns with “Burn For You,” the latest single from his forthcoming album A Light That Guides Weary Travelers Home. Released August 14 via Ophelia Records, the deeply personal track pairs intimate songwriting with cinematic electronic production, offering another glimpse into the emotional world of Bayer’s next full-length project.
A Light That Guides Weary Travelers Home arrives September 4, following the previously released “Shield From Harm” featuring Vök and “I Wish You Well” with acclaimed vocalist Jonathan Mendelsohn.
A collaboration with Australian singer-songwriter Vancouver Sleep Clinic, the project of Tim Bettinson, “Burn For You” began as a sparse arrangement of piano and strings before Bettinson added the striking vocal performance that would become the song’s emotional centerpiece.
The track carries deeply personal meaning for Bayer, serving as a love letter to his husband and reflecting on the transformative experience of welcoming their son into the world with the help of their surrogate. At its heart, “Burn For You” explores enduring love, family and the discovery of hope during life’s most difficult moments.
“I’ve been a fan of Tim’s music for years, so it was an absolute privilege to work with him,” says Bayer. “I sent him the piano and strings, and he connected with it immediately — it was one of those ‘wow, no notes’ moments. ‘Burn For You’ is ultimately a love letter to my husband and our family. Becoming a father gave everything a new sense of purpose, and like the lighthouse that runs throughout the album, it’s about discovering a light that continues to guide you no matter how dark things become.”
Musically, “Burn For You” develops with deliberate patience. Its vulnerable opening gradually expands around Bettinson’s emotionally charged vocals before erupting into a powerful, bass-driven climax. The contrast between delicate instrumentation and the track’s eventual cathartic release highlights the emotional range of A Light That Guides Weary Travelers Home, while showcasing Bayer’s ability to merge cinematic composition with forward-thinking electronic sound design.
That balance between experimentation and emotional songwriting has defined Andrew Bayer’s career for more than a decade. His 2011 debut album, It’s Artificial, introduced a restless combination of glitch-hop, electronica and progressive house, establishing an experimental foundation that would continue to evolve throughout his discography.
His acclaimed follow-up, If It Were You, We’d Never Leave, expanded his palette through an adventurous blend of electronica and instrumental hip-hop, while 2018’s In My Last Life placed emotionally resonant songwriting further at the center of his artistic identity.
In 2022, Bayer pushed those boundaries again with the ambitious two-part project Duality, exploring both his indie-pop sensibilities and progressive and trance influences. The project was accompanied by an autobiographical film, which is now available on Amazon.
Beyond his album work, Bayer has developed an extensive catalog of club-focused productions and collaborations, including work with Seven Lions and Armin van Buuren. His music has also taken him to major stages and venues around the world, including Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Madison Square Garden, ASOT and Creamfields.
Throughout his career, Bayer has consistently blurred the lines between progressive electronic music, trance, electronica, indie-pop and cinematic composition while maintaining a distinctive creative voice.
