South Florida electronic band B0YG1RL is preparing to enter a new chapter with the announcement of their self-titled debut album, B0YG1RL, arriving in October via Surf Gang Records. Following the release of “MOND LAN FINI,” the Miami-based duo has now shared the album’s second single, “SHOW ME,” accompanied by a music video filmed at Club Space in Miami.
The forthcoming album is built around an end-of-the-world scenario inspired by the idea of every soul being absorbed into a single consciousness. From that starting point, B0YG1RL takes on a futurist, psychedelic, and cinematic identity, moving between the nostalgia of traditional Caribbean rhythms and the industrial, alien qualities of contemporary electronic music.
The band plans to extend that world beyond the album itself with an album visualizer filmed inside a deserted Club Space, alongside a series of live performances. B0YG1RL will provide direct support for Argentinian electronic artist Six Sex and appear at III Points, always forever Festival, and MoMA PS1 at III Points Miami. The project will also receive an album release show at the storied Club Space Techno Loft.
Fronted by June Vinette and Angela Rio, B0YG1RL operates at the intersection of experimental electronic music and multimedia visual art. Their sound pulls from the musical vocabulary of Miami bass, baile funk, Haitian konpas, and dembow, bringing these influences together through a broader exploration of club music, community, and place.
That approach has been evident throughout the band’s growing catalog. Their breakout single “Je M’appelle Tété” introduced listeners to a world of white-hot, fizzing synths, while their EXIT 2B EP moved between bludgeoning 808s and unexpected downtempo passages without settling into a single genre or scene.
Released through Surf Gang Records in May, EXIT 2B earned Best New Music and an 8.2 rating from Pitchfork, along with a Best New Track recognition for “Little Haiti.” The project further established B0YG1RL’s willingness to move freely between aggressive club music and more restrained moments, using a raw, vérité approach to explore community, resilience, Afro-diasporic storytelling, and the geography of Miami.
The band’s visual practice runs alongside its music, with B0YG1RL frequently documenting local oral histories and transforming them into public video portraits, community-led activations, and other visual mediums. Their work places particular attention on Black and Caribbean spaces throughout South Florida, capturing the textures, histories, and spiritual architecture that shape the region.
For B0YG1RL, music and film ultimately serve different functions within the same creative practice. Both provide ways of tracing the people, histories, and environments surrounding them, grounding their experimental sound and visual work in the communities and places that continue to inform their identity.
With B0YG1RL, the duo is expanding that approach into a larger conceptual world—one where Caribbean musical traditions, futuristic electronic production, visual storytelling, and Miami’s cultural landscape collide. “SHOW ME” offers the latest glimpse into that world ahead of the album’s October release.
