Few artists have moved between hip-hop and electronic music as naturally as Loco Dice, and his latest single, “Eyes On Me,” brings that history back to the forefront. Built around chunky percussion, stripped-back low end and detailed sampling, the track finds the German-Tunisian artist drawing from the UK urban and grime traditions while keeping his sights firmly on the dancefloor.
For Loco Dice, the connection to hip-hop runs much deeper than influence. Before establishing himself as one of house and tech house’s most recognizable names, Dice was DJing and rapping in Germany during the early 1990s. He eventually toured alongside artists including Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube, developing the rhythmic instincts that would later become central to his electronic productions.
That background is impossible to miss on “Eyes On Me.” The production favors impact over excess, with muscular drums, carefully sculpted textures and a sample-driven approach that nods to hip-hop while pushing into contemporary UK club sounds. Rather than functioning as a stylistic crossover exercise, the single feels more like a continuation of a musical language Dice has carried throughout his career.
The track also arrives after a notable meeting of those two worlds. In July, Loco Dice shared the Hï Ibiza Club Room with Skepta during the Más Tiempo residency. The appearance brought together two artists with deep connections to club culture and UK urban music, providing a fitting backdrop for a record that occupies similar territory.
“Eyes On Me” follows “Hold Up (You Feel That)” on Universal Music and continues an especially active period for Loco Dice following his 2025 album Purple Jam. The release also lands as the producer continues an extensive run of international performances, with upcoming appearances scheduled across the United States and Europe.
The forthcoming dates include stops at It’ll Do Club in Dallas, Night Trip Festival in Scottsdale and Day Trip In The Park in Los Angeles, followed by an appearance at Pacha Ibiza alongside Mau P. Later in September, Dice will join Carl Cox in Milan before heading to London’s Ministry Of Sound in October.
For an artist who has spent decades connecting seemingly distant corners of music culture, “Eyes On Me” represents a particularly natural progression. Its lean, physical production and grime-adjacent edge reflect the kind of adventurous sound Loco Dice has consistently championed, while the sampling and rhythmic focus serve as a reminder of where his musical instincts began.
Loco Dice: From Hip-Hop To Global Electronic Music
Born and raised in Germany within a multicultural family with Tunisian roots, Loco Dice developed his musical identity through hip-hop before transitioning into electronic music around the turn of the millennium.
His early-2000s breakthrough, “Phat Dope Shit,” helped establish his reputation within the underground, while his subsequent catalog expanded across house, tech house and techno. His 2008 debut album, 7 Dunham Place, arrived through his own Desolat imprint, followed by Underground Sound Suicide on Ultra Music, which featured collaborations with Giggs, Just Blaze and Neneh Cherry.
His later releases continued to blur genre boundaries. Love Letters arrived in 2018 before Purple Jam became his fourth studio album in 2025. Along the way, Dice has collaborated with artists ranging from Skrillex, Carl Cox, Gué and Haftbefehl to Fireboy DML, while his productions and remixes have appeared alongside music from Moby, Disclosure, Black Coffee and Basement Jaxx.
His influence also extends through his labels. Founded in 2007, Desolat became an important home for underground artists including Dubfire, Moritz von Oswald, Martin Buttrich, DJ Sneak and Yaya. Dice has since expanded his creative footprint through En Couleur and SB Recordings.
Behind the decks, his career has taken him everywhere from intimate underground clubs to major festivals, including Time Warp, Sunwaves and Coachella, as well as prominent Ibiza residencies at Circoloco, Amnesia and Space Miami.
That willingness to operate outside conventional genre boundaries has followed Loco Dice beyond music. His creative résumé includes an appearance in the PlayStation 2 game Decks & FX, work as a VJ on MTV’s Battle of the DJs, runway soundtracks for Marcelo Burlon at Milan Men’s Fashion Week, and collaborations with Daily Paper and New Era. He has also developed his own fashion label, Seran Bendecidos.
With “Eyes On Me,” those worlds converge once again. The single draws directly from the rhythmic foundation that first shaped Loco Dice while translating it into a modern club record built for big systems and late-night dancefloors.
