Two of melodic dance music’s most influential forces, Jason Ross and William Black, come together for “Mirage,” a sweeping progressive house collaboration featuring vocals from Oaks, the electronic alias of Swedish singer-songwriter Winona Oak. Released via Insomniac’s Lost In Dreams imprint, the track arrives as a defining moment for both artists, while also marking a key chapter in Jason Ross’ forthcoming album rollout.
Positioned at the intersection of progressive house, trance, and melodic bass, “Mirage” captures the shared emotional language that has defined both producers’ careers. Built for mainstage impact yet rooted in introspection, the track unfolds as a cinematic journey led by climbing arpeggios, radiant guitar accents, and orchestral textures that swell with precision toward a euphoric release.
At its core, the record is anchored by Oaks’ husky, ethereal vocal performance, which traces the emotional tension of a love that feels increasingly intangible. Her delivery adds a fragile weight to the production, reinforcing the track’s central theme of uncertainty—where hope and doubt blur into something fleeting and unresolved.
Driven by dynamic percussion and expansive synth design, “Mirage” builds steadily before erupting into a cathartic, big-room-leaning climax. The result is a record that balances scale with sensitivity, designed to resonate both on festival stages and in more reflective listening environments.
“I got a topline from Winona Oak (Oaks) and instantly knew this was going to be a big progressive record,” says Jason Ross. “William Black and I had been talking about working together for years, and this one just felt like the perfect fit, especially with both of us coming from that progressive house / trance background. We kept bouncing ideas back and forth, each bringing our own sound into it, and it all came together really naturally. It actually happened really fast, and those always end up being the most special ones for me. And getting to work with Winona Oak was incredible. I’ve been a fan of hers for years, so having her on this made it even more meaningful.”
For William Black, the collaboration marks a long-anticipated creative alignment. “I’m hyped about finally writing a song with Jason,” he says. “I’ve wanted to work with Oaks for a minute. ‘Mirage’ feels like the perfect blend of all our worlds.”
Oaks adds further emotional context to the track’s narrative: “It’s the story of a heart caught between hope and doubt—chasing something that feels real, but fearing it might just be a mirage.”
The release arrives during a period of sustained momentum for all three artists. Jason Ross continues to expand his sonic identity beyond his early Anjunabeats roots, evolving into a genre-blurring presence with his growing Atlas brand, spanning both releases and live experiences. William Black has further cemented his status within melodic bass, known for emotionally charged songwriting and festival-ready productions alongside artists like Illenium and SLANDER. Meanwhile, Oaks continues to shape a distinct electronic identity, bringing her background as a globally recognized songwriter into a more expansive and atmospheric club context.
With “Mirage,” the three artists converge on a record that feels both cinematic and deeply personal—an emotionally charged intersection of styles that underscores the evolving language of modern melodic dance music.
