US-based UKG artist Hans Glader and rising UK rave act efan have joined forces for “will you show up?”, a new collaboration out now via Maraki Records. Bringing together Hans’ off-kilter energy and efan’s breakbeat-driven approach, the track finds a meeting point between the sounds of the West Coast and the raw influence of UK rave.
The collaboration began with the two artists following each other’s music from opposite sides of the Atlantic. When they eventually connected in Bristol, a shared appreciation for soulful chord progressions gave them an immediate creative starting point. That connection would ultimately become “will you show up?”, a darker, late-night interpretation of 2-step that balances hazy atmosphere with the physical weight of a club-focused rhythm.
Pitched-up vocal fragments float through the track as deep basslines and tightly syncopated drums keep things moving underneath. Rather than relying on constant changes, subtle shifts in the groove create an unsettled sense of momentum, allowing the production to remain stripped back while still packed with texture.
The result feels like a natural collision of two different perspectives on UK dance music. Hans Glader brings the influence of his California surroundings, while efan draws from the energy of the UK underground, with both approaches meeting somewhere between soulful melody, breakbeat rhythm, and late-night club pressure.
A California native, Hans Glader has developed a distinctive interpretation of UK garage by filtering the genre through the sounds that shaped his West Coast upbringing. His background as a drummer plays a major role in the intricate rhythmic patterns running through his productions, while collaborations with Sammy Virji, Oppidan, and MPH have helped establish his presence within the wider UKG community.
That momentum will continue this fall when Hans Glader heads out for a nine-date US headline tour, with stops planned in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago, along with a festival appearance at Breakaway Houston.
On the other side of the collaboration, efan has been making a name for himself within the UK underground with a bass-heavy sound that moves between UK garage, bassline, and breakbeat. Rolling low-end and kinetic percussion sit at the center of his productions, capturing the raw physicality of UK rave culture while giving it a contemporary edge.
With “will you show up?”, the two artists turn that shared love of UK-rooted dance music into something distinctly their own. The track doesn’t attempt to blur their individual identities—instead, it lets the contrast between their approaches create the tension that drives the record.
Hans Glader and efan’s “will you show up?” is out now via Maraki Records and available on all platforms.
