CRSSD | Five Reasons to #YOLO in Sunny San Diego💃💃💃

by The Freaks - Staff

When I looked at the lineup for CRSSD, I found myself rushing to find a way to make this happen. Ever the last minute #yolo tripper, I had to find not only the finances but also the will to take two festival trips in the month of March. Here’s looking at you CRSSD, the only festival I would have sacrificed Ultra for this year. Seriously, the lineup is that good. Thankfully I will get the best of both worlds but had I have only had the option to chose… CRSSD would have won hands down. The entire lineup is incredible, so to avoid the dreaded set conflicts, I have narrowed my choices into a top five not to be missed artists for CRSSD’s 2019 Spring Edition.

1. Some bands stick to you like glue. As an electronic and synth pop fan for decades, I was impressed as fuck to see one of the originators of the sound on the lineup for CRSSD, and in 2019 no less. Kids, allow me to introduce you to the pioneers of Electro-Pop music: Ladytron. You can thank me later.

2. House music is life. CRSSD delivered a real treat in my favorite House music producer Armand Van Helden. Seeing his name on the lineup solidified my decision to make the journey. I needed a redo from missing him at Creamfields during Eric Prydz magnificent HOLO. I think the sunny beaches of San Diego will be much more preferable to enjoy his set, rather than a crowded tent in the pouring rain. I’ll take it!

3. No trip to CRSSD would be complete without seeing the master, Maceo Plex play as Maetrik. I have never had the pleasure of seeing him as Maetrik. I was always working in the early 2000s. I’m actually really impressed … CRSSD got this choice right.

4. Wajatta reigns supreme. I’m a slave to the groove, and I can think of nothing more groovy than Wajatta. Think a mixture of Prince, funk, soul, and the best basslines from House and Techno music. Also a first for me, I can’t stop listening to their blend of house and techno infused album Casual High Technology. Reggie Watts’ vocals are phenomenal, and I look forward to watching him play with John Tejada. This will be SPECIAL. Don’t miss it.

5. My favorite experience is being taken on a journey at a festival. There is nothing like closing your eyes and feeling the feeling of flight that can only come from a melodic Techno set. Enter Stephan Bodzin for this exact purpose. He is exactly what techno should be. It gets even better… he’s playing freaking LIVE!

Who are you most excited to see at CRSSD? Grab your tickets today, and I’ll see you there!
