The appeal of Joyryde’s bass house music can’t be denied as his tunes easily take you on a journey that’s exhilarating, fast-paced and audacious which stands out in the genre.
Growing up on the UK garage sound, John Ford’s impressive repertoire of badass singles under the moniker Joyryde has built him a much-respected following with loyal fans, known as Ryders, that flock to his performances addicted to his bass-heavy house music. Known for performing on stage in his famous C. A. R. production featuring a 1969 Dodge Charger and his collaboration with Skrillex on the single “Agen Wida”, Joyryde knows how to produce hits that will grab your attention, create drama and have you pleading his cause. “Hot Drum” and “Hoodlum”, the first two singles I ever heard from Joyryde, are still two of my favorite songs from the artist because they represent Joyryde’s talent and drive but more importantly, I have never heard such unique and inspiring bass music that made me an instant fan and had me even more intrigued by what else this masterful artist could produce.
Singles “Fuel Tank”, “Windows” (featuring Rick Ross)”, “Damn” (featuring Freddie Gibbs) (OWSLA)”, “Yuck” (featuring Gold) and “Flo“ demonstrate his mastery of taking popular rap and pop songs to another level. Just when you thought he was done, Joyryde further provides a sense of soulfulness by utilizing old school diva vocals in singles “Hoam” “Madden”, “Feel The Volume”, (Jauz)(Joyryde ‘Stick It In Reverse’ Mix) and ”Give my Love”.
The first single off his debut album “Brave”, “I’m Gone” is a more personal note where the artist recounts the composition of this track to reflect a time where he was healing from back surgery and the experiences he had during that recovery period. This track demonstrates Joyryde’s versatility to meld seemingly unrelated musical genres. Somewhat traditional in his house selections, paired with some classical music elements and more progressive in his bass applications, Joyryde’s balance of these elements means he can appeal to a much wider audience and send his message to fans. Inspired by the culture around him which feeds his creativity, Joyryde continually focuses’ on improving himself and his work. An example of this progress could be seen at Joyryde’s LA tour stop he brought two Lamborghini Countach’s on the stage during the performance which he described as a dream come true. Going to Joyryde’s show will move you to become a Ryder4life!
