Guys, I can’t stop thinking about this festival!
Once Ubbi Dubbi Festival dropped their lineup, I was sold and ready to go. Now that the day is getting closer and closer, I’m starting to get antsy! We’re all going to be first-timers at this inaugural Texas festival on April 27th and 28th but that doesn’t mean we can’t go informed and know what we’re in for. Let’s go through some things about the festival you should know before you make the trip:
1. First off, purple and blue are the official colors
As you may know from flyers and their website, these are the colors of the mascot bears Ubbi and Dubbi. Ubbi is the house lover in purple and Dubbi is the bass-loving blue bear. The color you wear will show others your music preference. I myself am a big fan of both genres (and I have an affinity for both colors) so catch me wearing a combination of each color all weekend.
2. There’s no re-entry
Once you’re in the venue, there’s no going back. It’s like my mom always says, “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.” Come prepared with all the things you need for the day you arrive and, I promise you, you won’t regret it.
3. Panther Island Pavilion is a one of a kind venue
Running along the Clear Fork Trinity River, this venue spans across three corners of a fork in the river. The stages will be connected by a trail system with bridges over the river and with a downtown Fort Worth location, we’ll get a beautiful skyline view to set the mood for the weekend! I’m highly anticipating those Texas sunsets over the city views at the end of the festival day.
4. The festival goes from 3 pm to midnight both nights
Assuming you get there when the gates open, that’s nine hours onsite and nine hours without charging your phone. I’d suggest picking up a solid portable charger; it can mean the difference between getting all the pictures and videos you dream of, and your phone dying during your favorite set. I snagged mine off of an Amazon recommendation and it will charge my phone 100% three times.
5. You’ll be walking on grass, dirt, and pavement ALL DAY
Given, this goes for any festival: your feet are not the place to sacrifice comfort over fashion. With all the dancing and walking you’ll be doing, do your feet a favor and wear comfortable shoes. It’s all going to depend on personal preference but I strongly recommend staying away from open-toed shoes. They will wreck your feet by the end of the weekend.
6. Flow toys are encouraged…except gloves.
Sorry glovers, leave them at home. Unfortunately, Ubbi Dubbi does not permit the admittance of LED gloves. It’s a shame but you can still bring any poi, orbits, whips, hoop, wands or any other LED toys your heart desires!
7. There’s a tent dedicated to your safety
Along with routine security and First Aid, Ubbi Dubbi will be providing a “Celebrate Safe” tent for anyone feeling uncomfortable or unsafe at the festival. If someone is getting too close after refusing consent or your designated driver decides to drive intoxicated, stop by the tent for help. They are there for the sole purpose of your personal comfort, so don’t be afraid to utilize them.
8. Last, but not least…There’s an app!
Ubbi Dubbi paired up with Woov to bring you a whole new way to experience a festival. On the app, you can chat with other people attending as well as start a group chat with all your friends. This way you can make rendezvous points, tell each other which sets you’re going to, and the app helps you find your friends’ locations if you get separated. Once the set times are announced they will be accessible on Woov and you can set your favorite artists to send an alert when they start so you don’t miss anything.
There’s something extra exciting about attending a brand new festival. Taking all this info in, with the addition of the INSANE lineup Ubbi Dubbi has cooked up for us, this festival is making out to be one of the most anticipated new festivals of 2019. April 27th can’t come soon enough!
