German techno duo Schrotthagen return with “Una Noche,” a new single released October 16 that blends driving club rhythms, Spanish vocals, and cinematic atmosphere. Comprised of award-winning composers Giovanni Berg and Dieter Schleip, the Munich-based project continues to develop a sound that bridges electronic music and film scoring. The single also offers another glimpse into the duo’s upcoming album, NEUE WELT, scheduled for release November 27.
Built around raw analog techno, crisp percussion, and the energy of ’90s rave, “Una Noche” brings a passionate vocal hook to a production designed for peak-time dancefloors. Its lyrics evoke an unforgettable night beneath the moonlight and the freedom of leaving the past behind, balancing the track’s forward momentum with a more emotional core.
The accompanying music video extends that atmosphere into a darker visual world. Moving between desolate landscapes, saturated red interiors, and fragmented, intimate imagery, the film shifts between isolation and intensity. Rather than simply illustrating the track, the visuals create a parallel narrative that reflects Schrotthagen’s background in film composition and interest in the relationship between sound and image.
That cinematic approach has become central to the duo’s identity. Since emerging in 2023, Berg and Schleip have combined their experience as composers with a shared interest in electronic music, using contrasting sounds and visual storytelling to build a project that extends beyond conventional techno. Their work explores the tension between the familiar and the unfamiliar, pairing dancefloor energy with ideas about technology, creativity, and what it means to remain human in an increasingly digital world.
NEUE WELT marks the third chapter in this evolving concept. The duo’s 2024 debut album, Sturm und Drang, drew inspiration from the historical literary and artistic movement associated with emotional intensity and artistic freedom. In 2025, Nostalgie and Traurigkeit shifted toward romanticism, exploring aging, memory, acceptance, and the relationship between past and present.
The forthcoming album turns its attention toward the future. Built around a concept described as the Dream Machine, NEUE WELT examines dreams, artificial intelligence, social media, and the changing nature of creativity. At its center is a question about ownership and identity in a world increasingly shaped by technology: are our dreams still truly our own?
Its musical direction reflects that uncertainty. Across previously released singles “Back To Life,” featuring rising German vocalist bonniemxsy, “Rain Tonight,” “Million Empty Faces,” and “I Wanna Feel Alive,” Schrotthagen explore the contrast between organic and synthetic sounds. Vocals, mellotron, and yodeling sit alongside electronic instrumentation, reinforcing the album’s broader themes.
The record also pushes beyond the duo’s established sound. Some tracks lean toward pop, while others take a darker and more aggressive approach. Despite these shifts, the project retains its recognizable cinematic character, using different musical textures to explore the boundaries between analog and digital creativity.
Schrotthagen will also bring the project to North America ahead of the album’s release, with performances scheduled in Philadelphia, Montreal, Seattle, Toronto, New York, and Portland, alongside an appearance at Dreamstate in Southern California. The upcoming headline shows are being developed as immersive experiences rather than conventional DJ sets.
Inspired by the Dream Machine concept, the live production will feature a large-scale stage design, reactive elements, and distinctive lighting effects. By incorporating elements of film, theater, opera, dance, and performance, the duo aims to place audiences inside the story of NEUE WELT rather than simply presenting the music from behind the decks.

For Schrotthagen, the combination of electronic production, cinematic storytelling, humor, and technology is more than an aesthetic choice. It reflects the contrasting perspectives of two artists from different generations, united by a desire to explore how creativity evolves alongside technological change.
With “Una Noche,” the duo reconnects that conceptual ambition with the immediacy of the dancefloor. The single offers a taste of the darker, more exploratory world surrounding NEUE WELT, setting the stage for an album that looks beyond nostalgia toward the uncertain possibilities of the future.
