After a two-year hiatus, Savings are back with a fresh chapter in their career. The Albuquerque alternative pop-rock outfit has returned with their new single, “Stressed Out,” marking both their debut on Emo Nite’s Graveboy Records and a confident reintroduction to the band’s evolving sound.
Founded by songwriter, lead vocalist, and guitarist Sam Wilmot, Savings first emerged from New Mexico’s growing alternative scene before expanding into a full five-piece touring band. That evolution has allowed the group to refine a style that blends Midwest emo, pop punk, and alternative pop, creating emotionally driven songs that balance vulnerability with infectious melodies.
Their latest release, “Stressed Out,” captures the anxiety and uncertainty that can arise when everyday pressures become overwhelming. Wilmot delivers an introspective vocal performance, exploring feelings of decision paralysis and existential doubt with honesty and restraint. Musically, the track pairs fuzzy guitar textures and punchy drums with warm basslines, delicate guitar picking, and layered vocal harmonies. Conversational rap-inspired verses gradually build toward an uplifting chorus, offering a reassuring reminder that even life’s most uncertain moments can eventually give way to hope.
Reflecting on the band’s return, Savings shared:
“‘Stressed Out’ almost feels like a reintroduction for us. To continue to step out of our comfort zone and into new territory sonically.”
The single arrives during an exciting stretch for the band on the live front. Savings recently performed as part of the Vans Warped Tour Breaking and Entering showcase hosted by Emo Nite at Avalon Hollywood, and they are set to appear at Vans Warped Tour Long Beach inside the Camp Emo Nite tent.
Since releasing their debut EP, Get Well Soon., in 2023, followed by How Do You Feel? the following year, the band has steadily built a reputation through energetic live performances and emotionally resonant songwriting. Their touring résumé includes appearances at venues such as Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco, the Historic Masonic Temple in Michigan, Beat Kitchen in Chicago, Moonlight Lounge in Albuquerque, Marble Brewery, Inside Out, and XLNC Fest.
The momentum continues with several upcoming performances, including a hometown show at Launchpad alongside Good Terms and Stateside, as well as a support slot for Meet Me @ The Altar on The Worried Sick Summer Tour at Backstage at Revel.
With “Stressed Out,” Savings successfully bridge the heartfelt emotion of emo with polished alternative pop-rock production, signaling an exciting new era for the band. Their debut release on Graveboy Records not only marks a fresh beginning but also showcases a willingness to push beyond familiar territory while staying true to the sincerity that has defined their music from the start.
