Quite Lucky Records has officially opened applications for Echoes III, the third installment of its drum & bass writing camp series, set to take place September 11–18 in the idyllic village of Breb, Maramureș. Building on two previous editions, the latest chapter continues the label’s mission of creating meaningful spaces where artists can collaborate, experiment, and develop lasting creative relationships.
For this year’s camp, Quite Lucky Records has partnered with UniCredit Bank to offer one emerging artist a fully funded place. The selected participant will have accommodation, meals, and transportation covered, removing the financial barriers that can often prevent developing artists from accessing collaborative opportunities.
The successful applicant will join an international group of established and emerging drum & bass artists, including Azotic, Bogdvn, Blocksberg, Moxu, Mihaiul, Hugh Hardie, Javeon, T-Man, Tian, and Satl. Together, the participants will take part in a format developed by Quite Lucky Records around creative exchange, community, and the continued evolution of drum & bass.
The open call welcomes drum & bass producers, vocalists, songwriters, MCs, and multidisciplinary artists interested in collaborative writing and cross-border creative exchange. More broadly, the initiative reflects Quite Lucky Records’ goal of building genuine working environments where Romanian and international artists can meet, create music, and establish relationships that continue beyond the camp itself.
While the focus remains on organic collaboration and experimentation rather than commercial output, music created during Echoes III will be considered for potential future release through Quite Lucky Records. The approach gives participants the freedom to explore new ideas while creating a pathway for the strongest collaborations to continue beyond the week in Breb.
The first two writing camps, held in the Transylvanian villages of Viscri and Cobor, became the foundation for the label’s Echoes documentary series. Both films document what can emerge when artists from different countries, scenes, and creative backgrounds are placed in an intentional environment and given the opportunity to build music and relationships from the ground up.
Echoes I: Viscri introduced the concept as an experiment centered on collaboration, community, and the emotional side of drum & bass. Echoes II: Cobor expanded the story, following vocalist Blocksberg while offering a broader look at the sessions, relationships, and creative exchanges that helped shape the early identity of Quite Lucky Records.
The previous editions brought together artists and vocalists from Romania and beyond, including Flava D, Hugh Hardie, Makoto, Solah, PVC, HOAX, Gabriella Bongo, Tian, Azotix, Blocksberg, Bogdvn, Mihaiul, Nelu, Șerbănescu, and Subliminal, among others.
With Echoes III, Quite Lucky Records is once again putting collaboration at the center of its approach to drum & bass. By combining established names with emerging talent and creating an environment removed from the pressures of everyday life, the camp aims to give artists the freedom to experiment, connect across borders, and help shape the next chapter of the genre.
