Another Planet Entertainment, in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, has announced the return of Daytime Disco, the signature event from Poolside, as part of its 2026 free concert series. The outdoor celebration will take place on Sunday, September 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Union Square, bringing together live electronic music, community, and one of the city’s most beloved hometown artists.
Headlined by Poolside, the recording project of producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Paradise, the event will also feature a lineup of special electronic music guests. The free concert series is part of Another Planet Entertainment’s ongoing collaboration with the City of San Francisco to keep downtown a vibrant destination for live music, arts, and cultural experiences.
The return of Daytime Disco carries special significance for Paradise, whose musical journey is deeply rooted in San Francisco. Before launching Poolside, he attended San Francisco State University and became a fixture in the city’s nightlife scene as a DJ and promoter behind the influential Blow Up SF parties. Bringing the event back to Union Square reflects both the project’s origins and its enduring connection to the city.
Poolside first emerged in 2011 from a converted backyard pool house in Los Angeles, where Paradise set out to create a relaxed yet danceable sound perfect for sunny afternoons. Describing the style as “Daytime Disco,” he blended laid-back grooves, warm melodies, and shimmering electronic textures into a sound that would become synonymous with the project.
The phrase eventually evolved beyond the music itself, inspiring Poolside’s long-running Daytime Disco playlist on Spotify. Curated by Paradise, the playlist features his own work alongside music from like-minded artists and has grown to nearly 43,000 followers. Its popularity helped spark a series of Daytime Disco events, including performances at Coachella’s DoLab, The Castro Theatre, and other celebrated venues.
Over the past decade, Poolside has become a standout name in melodic electronic music, releasing five acclaimed studio albums: Pacific Standard Time (2012), Heat (2017), Low Season (2020), High Season (2021), and Blame It All On Love (2023). Along the way, the project has remixed artists including Billy Idol, Jack Johnson, Milky Chance, The Revivalists, Miami Horror, Rhye, and L’Impératrice, while touring internationally as a dynamic six-piece live band.
Their performances have graced major festivals such as Coachella, Outside Lands, Primavera Sound, and Corona Capital, while sharing stages with acclaimed artists including LCD Soundsystem, Kacey Musgraves, and Tycho. Most recently, Poolside released the single “Bedroom Eyes” with Stevie Appleton via Counter Records.
The Daytime Disco event is part of Another Planet Entertainment’s broader effort to activate public spaces throughout San Francisco through free community programming. Previous events have included Empire 15 featuring Shaboozey and Portugal. The Man at Civic Center, as well as collaborations with Dirtybird, Om Records, and Empire’s Bay & Boots featuring Don Louis and Sophia Scott at Embarcadero Plaza.
The announcement also arrives as Another Planet Entertainment prepares for the 18th edition of Outside Lands, taking place August 7–9. The festival is expected to welcome more than 200,000 attendees while continuing to generate significant economic benefits for San Francisco and helping support funding for the city’s parks and recreational programming.
Mayor Daniel Lurie praised the event’s role in revitalizing downtown, saying:
