New Zealand producer Montell2099 returns to NIGHTMODE with ‘PUSH DOMEZ BACK : LUV 2 PARTY’, a conceptual double-sided single released October 30, 2026. Continuing a larger rollout built around two interconnected bodies of work, the release marks the second A/B installment in a project that highlights the producer’s genre-fluid approach and willingness to explore contrasting sounds.

The A-side, “PUSH DOMEZ BACK,” pushes deeper into Montell2099’s trap-driven sound. A rapid-fire rap vocal cuts through a cavernous instrumental, with breakneck chopper flows and razor-sharp articulation bringing relentless energy to the production. Snappy percussive clanks and sharp claps punctuate the arrangement, while twisting low-end, moody portamento synths, and haunting R&B hooks add depth to its futuristic sound design.

Balancing aggressive vocal delivery with a spacious, atmospheric backdrop, “PUSH DOMEZ BACK” moves between raw hip-hop energy and the cinematic electronic production that has become a defining element of Montell2099’s work. The producer’s experimentation takes center stage, creating a track that feels equally focused on impact and atmosphere.

The B-side, “LUV 2 PARTY,” offers a contrasting direction. Trading the A-side’s aggressive trap sound for a stripped-down UK garage groove, the track pairs ethereal vocal chops and bright chords with a rolling, rhythmically driven bassline. Its melodic warmth and understated arrangement provide a more sensual counterpart to the tension and intensity of “PUSH DOMEZ BACK.”

Together, the two tracks showcase the creative freedom behind the double-sided format, allowing Montell2099 to explore different musical influences without sacrificing the distinctive production approach that connects his work.

The release follows ‘BACKAGAIN : ME&YOU,’ the first installment in the paired EP rollout that introduced Montell2099 to NIGHTMODE in June. The release received radio support from George FM, Kiss FM AUS, Mix93FM, Sunshine Live, Massive Dance, and Impulse, alongside tastemaker spins from Illenium and Alison Wonderland.

The project reflects a career built around experimentation, with Montell2099 moving between trap, hip-hop, hardwave, drum & bass, house, and bass music. His ability to find connections between seemingly disparate styles has helped establish his place within the international electronic music landscape.

Since emerging from New Zealand’s electronic scene, Montell2099 has developed an extensive collaborative résumé featuring RL Grime, Wilkinson, 21 Savage, Mura Masa, Netsky, Alison Wonderland, What So Not, Charli XCX, and more. His work has also attracted coverage from international outlets including Rolling Stone Australia, Complex, XXL, and Pigeons & Planes, alongside local platforms such as George FM, RNZ, and NZ Herald.

His productions have reached international stages including Tomorrowland, HARD Summer, Apocalypse Zombieland, You & Me, Northern Bass Festival, and Mardi Gras Festival. In December 2025, he released his debut album, ‘DUALITY,’ independently through his 2099 imprint. The project demonstrated the breadth of his sound, moving between festival-scale bass, high-velocity rhythms, and melodic electronic territory.

With an upcoming appearance at Jim Beam Homegrown, New Zealand’s all-Kiwi music festival, Montell2099 continues to build on his international achievements while maintaining a connection to the scene that shaped his sound.

Reflecting on the A-side’s creative process, Montell2099 shared, “PUSH DOMEZ BACK was a super fun record to put together. I experimented with this Big L vocal I found and tried to mess around with a different bounce/rhythm. It’s a fun experimental tune, glad it’s out in the world.”

With ‘PUSH DOMEZ BACK : LUV 2 PARTY,’ Montell2099 continues a rollout defined by contrast, experimentation, and creative freedom. The double-sided release offers another glimpse into an evolving catalog that bridges bass music, club experimentation, and forward-facing electronic production.

‘PUSH DOMEZ BACK : LUV 2 PARTY’ is available on all platforms via NIGHTMODE.
