Los Angeles-based producer and audiovisual artist juuku returns to NIGHTMODE with his new five-track EP, for us, a cinematic and emotionally driven project that blends immersive storytelling with dancefloor-ready electronic music.
Known for celebrating his Asian American heritage through bass-forward productions and anime-inspired visuals, juuku has built a distinctive artistic identity that extends beyond music alone. His catalog spans house, trap, bassline, garage, dream pop, techno, future bass, and electronica, while each release is accompanied by vivid visual storytelling. On for us, he continues that approach, crafting a sonic journey that explores love, loss, hope, and reunion through both music and animation.
At the heart of the EP is “find you,” a cinematic melodic trap anthem that tells the story of two soulmates separated by fate before reconnecting in another lifetime. Opening with delicate piano melodies and pitched vocal textures, the track gradually builds into a soaring future bass drop before transitioning into a reflective breakdown that symbolizes the journey from heartbreak to rebirth. The song concludes with an emotional final drop and an acoustic outro featuring plucked strings, bringing its narrative full circle.
The EP follows the previously released singles “lmk” and “i thought i lost you,” both of which were brought to life through a six-part anime series created in collaboration with animator and concept artist Phuncal. The ambitious visual project took more than six months to complete, further highlighting juuku’s commitment to combining music with cinematic storytelling.
Rounding out for us are the uplifting tracks “falling4u” and “you,” which balance the project’s more introspective moments with energetic rhythms and euphoric melodies that capture the exhilaration of falling in love.
Throughout his career, juuku has collaborated with artists including Slow Magic, yetep, Manila Killa, Rossy, Covex, Syence, Just a Gent, AVELLO, Darby, and Remnant.EXE. His productions have also earned support from some of electronic music’s biggest names, including RL Grime, Alison Wonderland, Steve Aoki, Juelz, San Holo, and Diplo.
As a live performer, juuku has continued to expand his reach with support slots alongside yetep at Racket NYC, previous tours with Steve Aoki, festival appearances at Lost In Dreams, Countdown, and EDC Orlando, as well as performances at renowned venues including Nova San Diego, Bloom San Diego, Hakkasan, Academy LA, and Time Nightclub.
Speaking about “find you,” juuku shared:
“This song is the culmination of the sound that started juuku. I was watching Darling in the Franxx at the time, which had a really emotional opening theme, so it started as me reimagining the production with the vocals intact.”
With for us, juuku delivers his most cohesive and emotionally resonant project to date, blending cinematic production, heartfelt storytelling, and genre-defying electronic music into an immersive audiovisual experience.
