Galantis is bringing his signature MIDSOMMAR event back to New York City for a fifth consecutive year, continuing a tradition that has become one of the electronic music calendar’s most distinctive celebrations. Created by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Christian Karlsson, the immersive show concept returns to The Rooftop at Pier 17 on September 11 and 12, 2026, transforming the iconic waterfront venue into a vibrant floral celebration inspired by the spirit of the summer solstice.
Drawing inspiration from the Scandinavian festival of Midsommar, the event celebrates themes of community, renewal, and togetherness while reimagining the tradition through the colorful, euphoric lens of a Galantis performance. Although rooted in the symbolism of the summer solstice, MIDSOMMAR has evolved into a year-round celebration that blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy through music, immersive production, and shared dancefloor experiences.
This year’s New York edition spans two nights, with Jessica Audiffred joining the lineup on Friday, September 11, followed by TELYKAST on Saturday, September 12. Fans can expect The Rooftop at Pier 17 to once again be transformed into a floral wonderland complete with flower crowns, a flower queen, immersive décor, and the uplifting atmosphere that has become synonymous with the annual event.
The New York shows are part of a broader MIDSOMMAR 2026 series that also includes stops at The Midway in San Francisco on June 27 and The Salt Shed in Chicago on August 22, with additional dates expected to be announced in the coming months.
The announcement arrives during a significant new chapter for Christian Karlsson. Earlier this year, the Swedish producer released “Stay Alive” via Counter Records, a Ninja Tune imprint, introducing his latest creative project, Galantis & The Devil’s Tax Return. Marking a departure from his trademark festival anthems, the single explores a more introspective and emotionally nuanced sound, balancing melancholy with optimism while showcasing a new artistic direction.
Accompanied by a cinematic music video featuring Karlsson alongside his longtime companion Piiper, “Stay Alive” captures themes of youthful reflection and late-night spontaneity, transforming an understated parking lot setting into a visually striking expression of hope and nostalgia.
The release also serves as the beginning of a larger body of work. Following “Stay Alive,” Galantis is set to unveil three additional singles throughout the summer before culminating the new era with an upcoming EP.
As MIDSOMMAR enters its fifth year in New York City, the event continues to evolve beyond a traditional concert into a celebration of music, community, and immersive storytelling. Combined with Karlsson’s latest musical direction, the 2026 edition reflects an artist continuing to expand both his live experience and creative vision while remaining rooted in the uplifting energy that has defined Galantis for more than a decade.
