Independent pop artist and lyricist Ella Collier today releases her latest single “CHEERLEADER,” the final installment from her debut album DANGEROUS. Co-written with Max Vernon and Luke Forester, the track explores the messy moment when jealousy morphs into toxic positivity, turning stifled anger into biting, chantable pop hooks.
Channeling playful yet passive-aggressive energy, “CHEERLEADER” subverts the classic jealous ex-girlfriend trope, presenting a façade of support for the girl who “takes your place” while secretly simmering with envy. “It’s ‘yall deserve each other manifested,’” Ella Collier explains. “Through the story of the song, I try to take a high road, saying I’d support the girl who gets to take my man, but every line is coated in passive aggression and shade towards both of them.”
The official music video, set to release on March 27, expands on the high school theme from her previous single “17.” In the visual, Ella Collier dominates a massive football field in full cheer and sports gear, combining high-energy choreography with her signature tongue-in-cheek attitude.

Sonically, “CHEERLEADER” blends irreverent pop wit with production reminiscent of Gwen Stefani and Zara Larsson, capturing the relatable sting of watching a former lover move on while embracing that messy mix of jealousy and hurt. The track is crafted for both dance floors and car-singalong moments, turning bitterness into anthemic pop perfection.
DANGEROUS itself is a fearless exploration of ego, lust, impulsivity, and fear. The album has earned attention from major publications including Vanity Fair, The New York Times, and TMRW Magazine. Past singles like “SLEEPWALKING” have accumulated over 400k streams in a month, while “I DON’T DO DRUGS” reached #9 on Apple Music’s New in Pop, and “DON’T FOLLOW ME,” cosigned by Lizzo, hit #5 on Spotify’s SALT playlist.
In addition to her music, Ella Collier has made notable media appearances, including CBS News, and continues to perform live across high-profile shows, most recently debuting “SLEEPWALKING” at her opening set for Grant Knoche at The Moroccan Lounge. She has also appeared in Frankie Grande’s music video “I Don’t Remember It” and secured major sync placements in projects such as Love Island and NBA 2K, cementing her growing presence as a rising force in independent pop.
