Baby Weight and Mz Worthy join forces for the first time on “Sundown,” a long-awaited collaborative single arriving March 20 via Rules Don’t Apply Records, the imprint from Walker & Royce. Dark, driving, and built for peak-time impact, the track captures a natural creative alignment between two longtime friends whose shared history runs deep.
Driven by punchy bass stabs, crisp percussion, and a commanding groove, “Sundown” lands firmly in late-night territory. The production came together quickly, reflecting the effortless chemistry between Baby Weight and Mz Worthy—balancing raw dancefloor intensity with a layer of emotional depth that defines both of their approaches to club music.
That connection extends far beyond the studio. Having crossed paths for years within the underground circuit, the two artists grew closer during the pandemic, supporting one another through parallel personal and professional transitions within the dance music space.
“Working with Kristy [Mz Worthy] felt like a long time coming: we’ve known each other for so long and genuinely enjoy being in the same room and playing together, so in many ways this track is a symbol of our friendship,” says Baby Weight. “Sometimes it feels like we’re sharing our last brain cell, and that comes across in ‘Sundown’ – it was a track that happened super organically, and it does a great job showcasing how naturally our DJ styles and choices as solo producers work together, particularly our shared desire to blend emotion and vulnerability with hard-hitting sound design. Honestly, it just feels good to finally make music with someone who I consider a longtime friend, peer, and sister.”

Today, both artists continue to use their platforms to uplift others within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. Based in Washington, D.C., Baby Weight has spent over a decade building a reputation for genre-blending productions and high-energy DJ sets, earning support from Fatboy Slim, Walker & Royce, LP Giobbi, and Justin Martin, while appearing at major festivals including Coachella and EDC Las Vegas. This year, she is set to relaunch her independent label Chub Rub while continuing her work with FemmeHouse through monthly production sessions supporting women and nonbinary artists.
Meanwhile, Mz Worthy remains a key figure in the West Coast house movement and an early contributor to the Dirtybird community. Across more than two decades, she has built a legacy through fearless productions and dynamic DJ sets, with releases on Defected Records, Toolroom Records, and Insomniac Records, while also mentoring emerging artists through youth songwriting initiatives.
With “Sundown,” Baby Weight and Mz Worthy bring their shared journey into focus, delivering a powerful debut collaboration that reflects both their individual artistry and their lasting impact as producers, mentors, and voices within the dance music community.
