Built for the club long before it was built for release, Don Diablo’s reworking of A$AP Ferg’s “Plain Jane” arrives today via HEXAGON as an official collaboration between the two artists.
Originally created as a weapon for his DJ sets, Don Diablo first tested his version of the track while touring Saudi Arabia alongside Quavo and Metro Boomin. With no initial plans to release it, the producer continued to receive increasingly strong reactions every time the track dropped in his sets. As “Plain Jane” became one of the biggest moments of his performances, Diablo began refining the record for an official release.
The finished version brings together A$AP Ferg’s unmistakable vocal delivery with Don Diablo’s high-energy, club-focused production, creating a collision of electronic music and hip-hop. The release follows Diablo’s March collaboration with Wiz Khalifa and serves as another major hip-hop connection from his forthcoming album, FLUX.
The upcoming project has already seen Don Diablo explore collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Bipolar Sunshine, and Pink Sweat$, further showcasing the producer’s continued evolution beyond his electronic roots.
For A$AP Ferg, “Plain Jane” remains one of the defining records of his career. The original has surpassed 800 million Spotify streams, while its various versions have accumulated more than one billion streams combined, cementing the track as a modern hip-hop anthem.
Now, Don Diablo brings the iconic record into a new electronic setting while maintaining the energy that made it such a staple of his live performances.
