DJ E-Clyps Delivers Blackbird II EP as Part of Dirtybird’s Flight Week Series

Dirtybird mainstay DJ E-Clyps returns with his latest project, Blackbird II, a two-track EP released as part of the label’s ongoing Flight Week writing camp series via Dirtybird. Featuring collaborations with Black V Neck, Khyenci, and Life On Planets, the release showcases a dynamic range of sounds rooted in club culture.

Across its two tracks, Blackbird II highlights contrasting sides of DJ E-Clyps’ production style. “Fly You Out,” created alongside Black V Neck, leans into hip-hop influences with a bass-heavy groove and a playful, tongue-in-cheek vocal hook. On the flip side, “Ready Or Not” shifts toward a more classic house framework, built around a bright piano-led arrangement. The track is elevated by the interplay between Khyenci’s soulful vocals and Life On Planets’ rhythmic delivery, creating a balanced and uplifting energy.

The EP arrives as the eighth installment in Dirtybird’s Flight Week series, a collaborative writing camp initiative designed to give artists space to experiment and expand their sound. Within this setting, both returning contributors like Black V Neck and Life On Planets, alongside emerging talent such as Khyenci, bring fresh perspectives that push the label’s sonic boundaries while maintaining its signature identity.

For DJ E-Clyps, Blackbird II marks a significant return. A longtime fixture in the Dirtybird ecosystem, he first appeared on the label with “Sausages” on the Dirtybird BBQ: Filthy Flavor compilation in 2018. This new EP follows his 2020 Blackbird EP, while also serving as his debut contribution to the Flight Week series.

As Dirtybird continues to evolve its creative output through initiatives like Flight Week, Blackbird II stands as a sharp, concise addition—capturing the collaborative spirit and genre-blurring ethos that defines the label.

Fans can catch the Dirtybird crew live this summer at Dirtybird Campout x Northern Nights Music Festival, taking place July 17–19 in Piercy, where the community-driven energy behind releases like Blackbird II comes to life on stage.
