COSTA Launches New Era With Monstercat Debut “You Got Me”

New York-born, DMV-based dubstep artist COSTA is stepping into a new era with his debut original single, “You Got Me,” a high-impact collaboration with American DJ duo Fortune Favor, arriving via Monstercat. The release follows a breakout run on SoundCloud that helped COSTA build a dedicated following while generating anticipation for his first official original release.

Rooted in the underground hip-hop production that first shaped his sound, “You Got Me” carries that foundation into the modern bass music landscape. The result is a nostalgic yet forward-thinking production that blends gritty UK dubstep influences, deep wubs, robotic sound design, head-bobbing grooves and explosive low-end energy.

Rather than leaning entirely into the heavier side of dubstep, COSTA uses contrast to give the track its character. Smooth, groove-driven passages create space before the production erupts into festival-ready bass, making “You Got Me” equally suited to a packed dance floor and a massive outdoor stage.

“It’s super exciting to release my first original track! The goal was to bring back nostalgia and bridge genres. The vocals have a catchy 2010’s pop vibe and really set the tone for a party atmosphere… You Got Me is a song for both dubstep lovers and fans looking to take a step into the bass community.”

The release marks an important milestone in COSTA’s rapid rise. After just five years of producing bass music, the artist has developed a reputation for putting his own spin on recognizable records, with remixes and flips of tracks including Timbaland’s “The Way I Are,” Tove Lo’s “Talking Body” and Selena Gomez’s “Slow Down.” His early catalog generated more than 5 million SoundCloud streams within its first year, establishing the foundation for the momentum surrounding his original material.

That momentum has also translated into support from some of the biggest names in bass music. Excision, Subtronics, Crankdat, Levity, ALLEYCVT and Zeds Dead are among the artists who have backed COSTA’s production, helping position him as one of the emerging acts to watch within the dubstep and broader bass music scene.

His live presence has only strengthened that reputation. Following a standout performance at Goldenvoice’s Splash House, COSTA has continued building a resume that includes appearances at Red Rocks, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest and Forbidden Kingdom. His two performances at Electric Forest, including a set on the festival’s renowned Honeycomb stage, further showcased his ability to translate his production style into a high-energy live environment.

At Forbidden Kingdom, that energy became impossible to miss when his 4 p.m. performance reached maximum capacity, reinforcing the growing demand for COSTA’s sets and his ability to pull crowds toward his distinct blend of dubstep, hip-hop influence and bass-heavy production.

With “You Got Me,” COSTA moves beyond the world of flips and remixes to establish an identity built around original music. The collaboration with Fortune Favor gives his debut an additional layer of energy, while Monstercat provides the platform for what could become a defining new chapter in his career.

That momentum will continue into the fall, with COSTA scheduled to appear at Subtronics’ Cyclops Cove and Suwannee’s Hulaween. After years of building his name through inventive remixes, SoundCloud momentum and increasingly prominent festival appearances, “You Got Me” represents the next step: COSTA is no longer simply reworking the records that inspired him. He’s beginning to build a catalog of his own.
