Atlanta duo Coco & Clair Clair are back with “One One,” a sharp, playful new single that arrives just one week after their latest track “Coldplay.” Continuing the duo’s knack for pairing witty songwriting with effortlessly cool production, the new release finds Coco & Clair Clair leaning into the raw, unfiltered confidence that has become central to their sound.
“Coldplay” was recently praised by Nylon as “witty, carefree, and full of the sharp lyricism they’ve become known for,” and “One One” carries that same irreverent energy into a more stripped-back setting.
Speaking about the track, Coco & Clair Clair describe it with their trademark sense of humor and self-assurance: “This song is pure and raw, like the best kind of honey. Organic and homegrown, too, no autotune or vocal effects needed. Just a straight-up hit about being the beautiful girl who got away and leveled up, per usual. Produced by the one and only Yoni Wolf from the band WHY? (real indie heads know).”
The release follows the duo’s acclaimed sophomore album, Girl, which expanded the sonic and emotional world Coco & Clair Clair had established throughout their career. Pitchfork praised the album’s “sophisticated musical and emotional palette,” while Stereogum called it “addictive.”
Created after both artists spent time touring around the country and entering new relationships, Girl reflected a period of personal change. Rather than settling into a familiar formula, Coco & Clair Clair used the album as an opportunity to explore a wider range of sounds while allowing greater vulnerability into their songwriting.
That balance of emotional honesty and biting humor came through on singles including “Aggy” and “Kate Spade,” where the Atlanta duo demonstrated their ability to turn personal experiences into sharp, instantly memorable songs.
With “Coldplay” and “One One,” Coco & Clair Clair are continuing that evolution without losing the personality that made their music resonate in the first place. The songs extend the world established on Girl while highlighting the duo’s ability to move freely between playful pop instincts, alternative influences, and their signature lyrical edge.
The new music also arrives as Coco & Clair Clair prepare for a busy August. The duo will appear at Just Like Heaven Festival in Los Angeles before heading across the Atlantic for Rally Festival in London.
As they continue building on the momentum of Girl, “One One” reinforces why Coco & Clair Clair remain such an unpredictable and entertaining presence in the alternative pop landscape. With sharp lyrics, an unmistakable personality, and no shortage of confidence, the Atlanta duo are clearly still having fun—and bringing listeners along for the ride.
