Legendary Detroit techno innovator Carl Craig has reissued his ambient opus Meditations via his imprint Planet E Communications, making the project available across digital platforms for the first time. Alongside the digital release, Meditations will also arrive as a limited-edition C60 cassette, offered exclusively through the Planet E webstore and Bandcamp.
Originally conceived as a suite of beatless compositions, Meditations occupies a unique space within Carl Craig’s expansive catalog. The project bridges his foundational roots in Detroit techno with the more exploratory, multidisciplinary directions he has pursued throughout his career—ranging from orchestral collaborations to large-scale visual and installation work.

Over the past two years, the documentary Desire: The Carl Craig Story and its accompanying soundtrack have circulated globally, offering a broader perspective on his influence beyond the dancefloor. That evolution is further underscored by his ongoing All Black Vinyl series, a project that positions Carl Craig as both curator and archivist.
