Dirtybird welcomes back Body Ocean and Matsu with their collaborative two-track EP, Fall To The Ceiling, a boundary-pushing release that highlights the label’s continued commitment to forward-thinking dance music. Out now, the project brings together two producers from opposite sides of the globe, blending experimental sound design, infectious grooves, and the offbeat creativity that has long defined the Dirtybird sound.
Created between New Zealand and New York, Fall To The Ceiling is the product of an international creative partnership that evolved through remote studio sessions before finally coming together in person at Matsu‘s Brooklyn studio. The collaboration mirrors the spirit of Dirtybird‘s acclaimed Flight Week writing camps, where artists exchange ideas freely to push their music into unexpected territory.
The EP opens with the title track, “Fall To The Ceiling,” a hypnotic journey through warped melodies, twisted textures, and unpredictable rhythms that constantly keep listeners off balance. Its companion track, “Pulse,” shifts into a more driving gear, pairing energetic percussion with inventive sound design and relentless momentum. Together, the two records balance technical precision with playful experimentation, delivering the kind of leftfield club music that has become synonymous with the Dirtybird catalog.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Matsu shared:
“I’ve been a huge fan of Body Ocean since first hearing the project back in 2020. Every time we’ve worked together it feels like a challenge in the best way because I’m pushed to level up and take things further. These records have a real energy to them and have been doing serious damage in our sets for a minute now, so it feels right to see them land on Dirtybird.”
Body Ocean added:
“A relationship that started with mutual appreciation evolved into penpals and eventually into me flying halfway across the world to stay on Matsu’s couch in NYC and create these two pieces of mischief. We focused on making moments that would make you turn your head and go ‘WTF!?’ if you heard them in a rave. They’re both examples of exploration, a touch of madness, and overwhelming energy. Couldn’t be happier with what came bubbling out of the cauldron.”
The EP features two tracks:
- “Fall To The Ceiling”
- “Pulse”
Body Ocean is the house music project led by Jeremy Glenn, one-half of celebrated drum & bass duo The Upbeats, alongside producer and creative collaborator Nik Roos, formerly of influential Dutch trio NOISIA. Since launching the project, Body Ocean has released music through respected labels including Black Book Records, UKF, Night Bass, and Nervous Records. The act made its Dirtybird debut in 2023 with the Dotted Line EP.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn-based producer and DJ Matsu has steadily built a reputation as one of underground dance music’s most exciting talents. Also one-half of Omicasa alongside DJ Craze, Matsu first gained recognition on the DJ battle circuit before releasing music on labels including Fool’s Gold, Confession, Box of Cats, and Rules Don’t Apply. His relationship with Dirtybird began in 2024 with the release of “Ultimate.”
With Fall To The Ceiling, Body Ocean and Matsu deliver an inventive collaboration that thrives on unpredictability, combining experimental production with undeniable dancefloor appeal. It’s another compelling chapter in Dirtybird‘s evolving catalog and a testament to the creative chemistry that can emerge when artists collaborate across continents in pursuit of something truly unexpected.
