Dutch drum & bass producer Arcando is preparing to enter a new chapter with his debut album, Inception, announced alongside “Killer Instinct,” a dark, high-energy collaboration with acclaimed UK vocalist IRAH. Released October 16 through Monstercat, the single offers a glimpse into the album’s creative direction as Arcando brings together more than a decade of musical influences and experiences.
Built around IRAH’s commanding vocals, “Killer Instinct” explores a darker side of Arcando’s production. The track has been in development for nearly a year, evolving through multiple versions before reaching its final, club-focused form. What began with frenetic guitar work and old-school breakbeats gradually transformed into a more visceral drum & bass record, shaped by the creative chemistry between the two artists.
The collaboration grew from Arcando’s long-standing admiration for IRAH’s work. The pair first connected in a UK studio last November, developing an early concept that would undergo four fully written iterations over the following ten months. That extended process allowed the production to evolve while keeping IRAH’s unmistakable vocal presence at the center of the track.
“Killer Instinct” also serves as an introduction to Inception, an album designed to connect different stages of Arcando’s musical evolution. Spanning more than a decade of influences, the project brings together elements of his earlier productions and his current drum & bass sound, while reaching beyond the genre’s traditional boundaries through collaborations with artists from different musical backgrounds. Monstercat has also teased additional surprises for listeners familiar with the producer’s work.
A dedicated trailer offers an early look into the world of Inception, with Arcando scheduled to premiere the album during Amsterdam Dance Event on October 23. Fans can also access the project’s Spotify Countdown and Apple Music Pre-Add ahead of its release, with further album details expected to follow.
The announcement arrives as Arcando continues to build momentum following the viral success of his drum & bass remix of “Jungle” by Alok and The Chainsmokers. That breakthrough helped introduce his production style to a wider audience, leading into a run of collaborations that includes “Set Me Free” with Martin Garrix and Bonn, “Hold Me In Heaven” with Andromedik and Raphaella, and “Release Me” featuring Charlotte Haining.
Meanwhile, IRAH has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary drum & bass, drawing from the sound system culture of South London. His collaborations with Chase & Status, including “Program” and the platinum-selling UK Top 5 hit “Baddadan,” have helped cement his place in the scene. His contribution to “Killer Instinct” adds another recognizable vocal presence to Arcando’s evolving sound.
