GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist and producer Marshmello joins forces with indie-rock outfit Portugal. The Man on their new single “Phoenix,” arriving Friday, March 27 via Joytime Collective and broke records. The collaboration brings together two distinct sonic worlds, resulting in a track that feels both expansive and deeply personal.

Blending Marshmello’s melodic production with Portugal. The Man’s signature warmth, “Phoenix” captures the spark of new love and the feeling of renewal. Built on shimmering instrumentation and an undeniable groove, the track delivers an uplifting energy anchored by the line, “There’s something in the air, I can feel it / Lovers coming back to life.”

Reflecting on the collaboration, frontman John Gourley shared:

“Growing up in Alaska as the son of dog mushers, music never felt like a reachable world, so there’s still a part of me that can’t believe I get to work with people I’ve looked up to—especially someone like Marshmello. Working on ‘Phoenix’ with him was incredibly fun and easy, no ego, no overthinking—just chasing the feeling until it stuck. The song’s about that cycle—breaking down and coming back stronger—and I’m grateful for the trust and energy he brought into it.”

With over 16.8 billion Spotify streams and more than 68 million monthly listeners, Marshmello has become one of the most influential producers in modern music. Known for seamlessly crossing genres, he has collaborated with artists including Khalid, Halsey, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez. More recently, his collaboration “Miles On It” with Kane Brown made history as the first song to debut at No. 1 on both the Dance/Electronic and Country charts.

Meanwhile, Portugal. The Man, led by John Gourley, have built a career defined by constant reinvention. From cult favorites to global hitmakers, the band reached multi-platinum success with “Feel It Still” and continues to evolve their sound, blending psychedelic rock, soul, and experimental pop. “Phoenix is exactly the kind of record we built broke for,” said Andre Benz, Co-Founder & CEO of Broke Records. “It’s an honor to work alongside artists of this caliber, both of whom have shaped culture at the highest level. Coming from a background where we were early supporters of artists like Marshmello through Trap Nation, moments like this feel full circle. This is two world-class artists creating something that can resonate globally while still speaking directly to core audiences.”

In celebration of the release, fans can bid on a signed helmet from Marshmello and Portugal. The Man, alongside tickets to a future Portugal.
