Nearly every DJ began their career in the underground as an unknown musician who is trying to make it big. One of the challenges is getting your name out there for more people to hear, and finding the platform that will help you do it. Now, two of the biggest names in the music industry have just teamed up to bring you the future stars in electronic dance music.
Debuting on April 5th, Beatport and SiriusXM have joined forces to create a new weekly radio show on their electronic music channel, BPM (ch. 51). Titled “Pitch Control: Powered by Beatport“, the show will air every Sunday at 11 PM EST and be hosted by Beatsource Dance Curator Andrew Ortiz, better known as DJ Drew. Each track will be chosen by the Beatport curation team, which will represent the freshest music available. The show will also take into account realtime activity from Beatport’s LINK, a new streaming service that is fully integrated with DJ software and hardware so songs are immediately known to the Beatport curation team as they are being played around the world.
With DJ Drew’s 20 years of experience programming dance radio at KIIS FM in Los Angeles, he was the perfect choice to host the Pitch Control show. He will work closely with Beatport’s Berlin-based team, collaborating in order to bring some of Europe’s biggest hits to the U.S.
“We are thrilled to enter into this music and broadcasting partnership with SiriusXM, one of the leading music destinations here in the U.S.”, commented Robb McDaniels, CEO of Beatport. “So many U.S.-based electronic music fans are thirsty for the best underground electronic music tracks that will likely be the next big dance floor hits, and our world-class curation team and Beatsource’s expert staff are the perfect combinations to deliver the goods on a weekly basis.”
