Welcome to another fabulous edition of House and Techno Tuesday, this time with Tigerlily running the show!
First up in our Fresh New Music releases of the last week is my Queen of Deep House, Nora En Pure, who dropped her first offering of 2019 ‘We Found Love‘ Ft. Ashibah. In comparison to her club-focused Polynesia EP last year, ‘We Found Love’ is more of an uplifting, melodic house tune. The delicate strings show off Nora’s classical training, and are perfectly complimented by the lush vocals of Danish/Egyptian DJ and singer Ashibah. This beauty is first up on our playlist!
Why am I including what sounds like a bit of Psytrance in this list you ask? Cause it came from the legendary Electro house and Tech trance producer Sander Van Doorn! With its classic Hardstyle melody building up to a Psytrance influenced drop courtesy of Frontliner, ‘One Love’ featuring Koch is bound to get you moving!
Next up is ‘Lick Shot’ from Gorgon City. Not only were they one of my favorite shows of 2018, they’re also one of my favorite producer duos, and you absolutely MUST see them live! With its pounding bassline and late 90’s grungy house feel, it’s no surprise ‘Lick Shot’ is picking up support from the likes of John Digweed, Adam Beyer, and Nicole Moudaber. You can catch these guys on their Escape Tour at Coachella or Electric Forest this year, and if you see me, say hello and I’ll wish you a “Happy Forest!”
Tour alert: Anjunabeats will be traveling around North America in April and May, and I’ll be catching them in Vancouver, BC with my ravefam. I can already hear everyone reading this screaming, “Anjuna is TRANCE! She doesn’t know what she’s talking about!” Whatever dude. To me, it’s like splitting hairs… call it progressive house, trance, IDGAF.
Lineup announcements: It’s been a HUGE week for House and Techno fans, what with Desert Hearts announcing the return of their flagship festival! Taking place April 26-29 at the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, it’ll be 72 hours straight of nothing but house, techno, and love. Tickets for Desert Hearts Festivalwent on sale Friday January 25th and though they’ve yet to drop a lineup, they’ve already sold out early arrival, car and RV camping passes. So you’d better get on it!
All you dark and twisty, black sunglasses wearing Techno lovers, I’m sure you’re too cool to jump up and down at the 3-day lineup Movement Electronic Music Festival released last week, but I know I sure did! And I LOVE that they stacked it with female DJs like Amelie Lens, Charlotte De Witte, and J. Phlip to name a few. Make sure you catch Orbital and GRiZ‘s live sets, the legendary Kevin Saunderson (whom I was lucky enough to see at my very first festival in 2001), that b3b Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber, and Paco Osuna set, and of course Green Velvet.
