Faces of Gem and Jam Music Festival | Photo Recap

by The Freaks - Staff

Set in the heart of the breath-taking Tucson desert at the Pima County Fairgrounds, and birthed of the massive Tucson Gem and Mineral show, Gem and Jam was one for the books.
Delivering a stacked of diverse and stellar on multiple stages,  art, workshops, speakers, yoga, performance , food, and TONS of gems and minerals…what else could we possibly want? Gem and Jam was drenched in perfect weather complete with sunny skies and starry nights.  Colorful weirdness was most definitely present in the desert last weekend.

The special thing about Gem and Jam is that, although its primary focus is indeed the music, the festival is such a complete, immersive experience as a whole. With options like “Boutique Camping” for those traveling greater distances or opting for a bit more luxurious quarters, tents were set up, beneath shade, complete with amenities such as mattresses and linens, decor, and furniture, for a convenient, comfortable festival stay. Traditional tent camping and RV camping was available as well. Shuttles to and from the festival, for those not staying on the fairgrounds, provided practical and safe transportation, while also cutting down car emissions from attendees driving back and forth. Many other unique implementations were utilized to lessen the negative environmental impact of Gem and Jam as well. So many, in fact, that this year marked the start of Gem and Jam’s three-year plan to become a near no waste festival. A remarkable feat for any event, but especially one this size.
My friend Taylor and I were tasked with capturing the true feel of the festival and below you can enjoy our journey and that of so many others!
