One of drum & bass’ most heralded new-era artists, Kanine, returns on October 2 with his highly anticipated debut album Reflections. The defining body of work captures the relentless energy and precision that have propelled him to the forefront of the scene, bringing together previously released favorites with a collection of brand-new material across twelve tracks.
Known for his explosive productions, powerful hooks and precision-engineered drops, Kanine has built a reputation for creating music designed to ignite dancefloors on a global scale. Reflections serves as a clear statement of his mission to push his sound forward while maintaining the high-impact style that has made him a standout name in contemporary drum & bass. The album arrives during a period of significant momentum for the producer, following a run of major festival appearances, international shows and headline performances across the UK.
Speaking on the album, Kanine says, “Reflections is my debut album and a concept I’ve been wanting to realise for years, and now felt like the right time. Listening to your favourite songs can take you back to all the memories and moments you’ve experienced while listening to them and on this album, each song represents a moment in time for me. I hope this album becomes part of listener’s memories (reflections), the same way my favourite songs have become part of mine.”
Opening with “Wide Awake,” Kanine immediately sets the tone for Reflections with expansive synths, his signature pulsating bass and a turbo-charged drop. That same high-octane energy carries through “Blood Stream” and “Feel The Vibrations,” pushing the record forward at full throttle.
The album’s title track, “Reflections,” marks a pivotal moment within the project, telling its story through euphoric, dreamlike production. Kanine landed on the project and track title while watching the TV series Maniac, where the characters experience dream-like alternate realities that mirror their memories, relationships and desires, referred to as “reflections.” That same energy threads through both “Reflections” and “Deeper.”
Tracks “Midnight Sun,” “Power,” “Surrender” and “Ascension” then mark the midway point of the project, staying true to Kanine’s dark and heavy sonic signature. Each track feels built for packed warehouses where the night stops keeping time. Fan favorite “Surrender” featuring Gem Cooke stands out as one of Kanine’s biggest singles, earning BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record status earlier this year.
The collaborative side of Reflections comes further into focus with “Touchdown” featuring Sota and Mila Falls, “Lost Tonight” featuring HEIGHTS, and the closing track “Release Me” featuring INDI (VIP).
Together, the twelve tracks form a fully realized and cohesive debut album, with each song carrying its own story and memory. Reflections offers a deeper look at the sound and creative direction of one of drum & bass’ brightest rising stars while maintaining the intensity that has made Kanine a force on dancefloors around the world.
