San Antonio alternative indie-pop duo Orca return with their new single “skin&skin,” an intimate and delicately orchestrated exploration of vulnerability. Produced by Hether, the track continues the duo’s development of a sound that feels distinctly their own, pairing shimmering indie-pop with atmospheric production and emotionally charged songwriting.

“skin&skin” confronts the complicated emotions that can come with wanting to be loved while simultaneously fearing intimacy. Rather than offering an easy answer, Orca lean into that tension, creating a track that feels personal, warm and quietly unsettled.

Speaking about the single, Orca says, “This track exposes the vulnerable truth about wanting love. It confesses how draining the constant battle between craving affection and fearing intimacy can warp your perception of true happiness. It has been such a special opportunity to learn from music idol, Paul Castelluzzo (Hether), whose beautiful vision helped bridge our ‘throw-away demo’ into the full project’s signature sound.”

The accompanying music video reflects the warmth of the track through a vintage-inspired, homemade visual. Slow dancing and intimate performance moments give the video a personal quality that mirrors the song’s exploration of closeness and emotional vulnerability.

The release follows Orca’s recent single “Dove,” which examined the tension surrounding emotional connection. While “Dove” focused on the push and pull of connection, “skin&skin” turns inward, exploring the vulnerability beneath the desire to be loved.

Since releasing “Dove” last month, Orca have also been touring with Love Spells during the North American leg of his Love Is The Law world tour, adding another chapter to an increasingly active period for the duo.

Based in San Antonio, Orca are crafting moody, cinematic soundscapes rooted in emotional storytelling. Their music blends indie-pop shimmer with dreamlike atmosphere while exploring themes of transformation, identity, longing and renewal.

The duo’s latest EP, Ladybird, arrived on May 2, 2025, introducing listeners further to their atmospheric sound through breakout track “Certain Feelings.” The project established the foundation for the emotionally driven style that continues to evolve across their latest releases.

Over the past year, Orca have opened for 54 Ultra, Hether, Temachii, Jackson Marshall and The Two Lips, while also performing across a series of festivals throughout Texas. With “skin&skin,” the duo continue to explore the messy and intimate space between desire and fear, creating music that feels as vulnerable as it is immersive.

“skin&skin” is out now. Stay tuned for more from Orca.
