Grieving the person you used to be is at the heart of “VHS,” the latest single from Micah Martin, out now via Create Music Group. The track is the fourth preview from his upcoming debut album, All I Need, a 17-track project arriving November 20 that continues to explore the space between electronic music, rock, and metal.
Where his previous single “Burn Them All” with OddKidOut leaned into heavy guitar riffs and jump-up drum & bass, “VHS” moves toward the electronic and alternative side of Micah Martin‘s Rocktronic sound. Electronic drums and synth-driven production sit beneath his unmistakable rock-influenced vocals, creating a nostalgic alternative-electronic track that doesn’t fit neatly into either straight EDM or pop-punk.
Instead, “VHS” feels like a musical trip back through old memories. Its central idea is built around longing for a slower and simpler period of life, imagining those memories as something that could be pulled from a shelf and played again like an old videotape.
The production comes from WALSCHLAGER, an emerging name in the modern bass and club scene known for gritty, high-impact sound design. Aggressive low-end, sharp percussion, and dark dancefloor energy give the track a raw edge that works within both club and live environments. Micah Martin also contributed to the record as a composer and producer, working alongside WALSCHLAGER to shape the track and bring it to its final form.
For Micah, the emotional core of the song is deeply personal.
“‘VHS‘ is a letter to the kid I used to be. It’s about grieving the version of yourself that existed before life got so overwhelming & sometimes chaotic… before deadlines, expectations, and the weight of growing up. Sometimes I wish I could pull those memories off a shelf like an old VHS tape and spend one more day in a world that felt slower, simpler, and full of possibility. I think we’ve all had moments where we miss who we were just as much as where we were.” – Micah Martin about “VHS” single
The new single follows “Tomorrow’s Over” with HIGHSOCIETY, “Burn Them All” with OddKidOut, and “Thrown Away” as Micah gradually reveals the musical world of All I Need. Across the upcoming album’s 17 tracks, he continues exploring the intersection of electronic dance music and rock-metal while expanding the Rocktronic sound he has spent years developing.
That crossover has become a defining part of Micah Martin‘s career. Over the last decade, he has built a bridge between the electronic bass music community and the punk-rock and metal worlds that shaped him. His ability to move between those scenes allows his music to carry the aggression and weight of rock and metal while embracing the production, rhythm, and experimentation of electronic music.
With “VHS,” that combination takes on a more reflective quality. Instead of focusing solely on heavy drops or high-energy production, Micah Martin turns inward, using electronic textures and rock vocals to explore nostalgia, growing up, and the strange feeling of missing an earlier version of yourself.

As All I Need approaches, “VHS” offers another glimpse into the range of the project while showing a more vulnerable side of Micah Martin‘s Rocktronic identity. It’s a song about looking backward without being able to return, and about recognizing that sometimes the person we miss most is the person we used to be.
