Twice Grammy-nominated producer, composer and electronic music visionary Andrew Bayer returns with “Burn For You,” the latest preview of his forthcoming album A Light That Guides Weary Travelers Home. Released August 14 via Ophelia Records, the deeply personal single pairs cinematic songwriting with expansive electronic production, offering another glimpse into the emotional world of Bayer’s upcoming full-length.

Created in collaboration with Australian singer-songwriter Vancouver Sleep Clinic — the project of Tim Bettinson — “Burn For You” began as a stripped-back composition built around piano and strings. Bettinson’s haunting vocal performance ultimately became the centerpiece of the track, bringing an intimate emotional weight to Bayer’s original arrangement.
The song’s inspiration is equally personal. Written as a tribute to Bayer’s husband and shaped by the transformative experience of welcoming their son into the world with the help of their surrogate, “Burn For You” explores enduring love, family and the search for hope after life’s darkest moments.
“I’ve been a fan of Tim’s music for years, so it was an absolute privilege to work with him,” says Bayer. “I sent him the piano and strings, and he connected with it immediately — it was one of those ‘wow, no notes’ moments. ‘Burn For You’ is ultimately a love letter to my husband and our family. Becoming a father gave everything a new sense of purpose, and like the lighthouse that runs throughout the album, it’s about discovering a light that continues to guide you no matter how dark things become.”
Musically, “Burn For You” takes its time. The track initially moves through delicate piano, strings and Bettinson’s emotionally charged vocals before gradually gathering momentum and breaking into a powerful, bass-heavy climax. That transition from vulnerability to catharsis captures the broader emotional architecture of A Light That Guides Weary Travelers Home, where intimate songwriting meets Bayer’s instinct for cinematic scale and forward-thinking electronic sound design.
The single also reflects an evolution that Andrew Bayer has been building throughout more than a decade of releases. His 2011 debut album, It’s Artificial, introduced a restless blend of glitch-hop, electronica and progressive house, establishing the experimental approach that would become a defining part of his artistic identity.
He expanded that palette on If It Were You, We’d Never Leave, which earned critical acclaim for its adventurous fusion of electronica and instrumental hip-hop. With 2018’s In My Last Life, Bayer shifted further toward emotionally driven songwriting, while his ambitious two-part 2022 project Duality explored both his indie-pop instincts and his progressive and trance influences. The project was accompanied by an autobiographical film that is now available on Amazon.
Bayer’s influence extends well beyond his album work. His catalog includes club-focused collaborations with Seven Lions and Armin van Buuren, while his career as a performer has taken him to major electronic music stages including Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Madison Square Garden, ASOT and Creamfields, alongside clubs and venues around the world.
