Bushbaby and Danny P join forces for the first time on Insomniac Records with the release of “Back To Funk,” a groove-driven UK garage anthem that pays tribute to classic rave culture while delivering a modern club-ready sound.

Marking both producers’ debut on the label, “Back To Funk” blends their shared love of old-school UK dance music with contemporary production, creating a high-energy record designed for peak-time dancefloors.

A staple of the Brighton underground scene, Bushbaby has built a reputation for pushing the boundaries of UK garage, house, and minimal through bass-heavy productions that stay firmly connected to club culture. Meanwhile, Dublin native Danny P continues his rapid ascent as one of Ireland’s most exciting electronic artists, earning recognition for his fusion of speed garage, minimal tech, and modern rave influences.

Built around the instantly recognizable vocal hook from Ultramagnetic MC’s classic Back To Funk,” the new collaboration reimagines the iconic lyric with rolling speed garage percussion, warped basslines, shimmering synth textures, and fluid LFO-driven leads. The result is a nostalgic yet forward-thinking club record that bridges generations of UK dance music.

The release continues a remarkable run for Bushbaby, whose 2025 sophomore album, EVERY TIME, established him as one of the genre’s leading names. Its breakout single “Pumpin Jumpin” has amassed more than 14 million streams, while additional releases alongside Riordan earned support from BBC Radio 1, Capital Dance, and Kiss Fresh.

His growing international profile has been reinforced through an extensive EVERY TIME Album Tour, spanning more than 40 dates across the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. This summer’s schedule continues with appearances at HARD Summer, EDC Las Vegas, Parklife, Wild Gardens, Bass Coast, Desire, In It Together, and GEMFEST, alongside club performances at Elsewhere, Night We Met, Circoloco Ibiza, 1015 Folsom, Eden Ibiza, and Staticproof.

For Danny P, the release builds on the momentum of his breakout collaboration “909” with Riordan, which has surpassed 3.7 million streams since its January release. The track has attracted support from influential DJs including Chris Stussy, Obskür, Kettama, Robbie Doherty, Gaskin, and Max Dean, helping establish him as one of Ireland’s fastest-rising producers. He also recently celebrated his biggest headline performance to date with a sold-out show at The Block in Dublin.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Bushbaby said:

“‘Back To Funk’ is one of those records that instantly felt fun. Danny sent over the original idea and it had that raw energy that reminded me why I fell in love with club music in the first place. We weren’t trying to overthink it, just make something that feels good in a rave. It’s got elements of garage, house and old school rave running through it, but ultimately it’s just a tune that’s made for people to lose themselves to on a dancefloor.”

With “Back To Funk,” Bushbaby and Danny P successfully blend classic UK rave influences with contemporary garage production, delivering a track that honors the genre’s roots while showcasing the forward-thinking sound that continues to drive today’s underground club scene.
