Netflix will be debuting its own dance film on August 26 with XOXO. After the infamous 2015 film flop We Are Your Friends accumulated mounds of criticism from fans and industry professionals, XOXO looks to be a more promising portrayal, especially with of Pete Tong’s role as music supervisor. Now, we’ve received a first glance as to what the movie will look like.
According to the official description, XOXO “follows six strangers whose lives collide in one frenetic, dream-chasing, hopelessly romantic night.” The preview, currently on YouTube and viewable above, shows the protagonist’s journey to the “biggest rave of the year,” XOXO, where he is slated to perform after one of his tracks became a viral hit. Along the way, he strikes up a romantic relationship with Sarah Hyland’s character while crossing paths with other strangers who have their own major life breakthroughs at the event.
Pete Tong’s fine curation skills reveal themselves in the official soundtrack, which includes a variety of music from cutting-edge rising talent including Jai Wolf, Lane 8, Yotto, and more.
