HOLLOW HEARTBREAK

Stranger Cat Transforms Heartbreak into Empowerment with New Single “Hollow Heartbreak”

by Press Release

Miami/NYC-based musician, producer, and multimedia artist Stranger Cat has just released her latest single, “Hollow Heartbreak,” a synth-driven dance anthem that finds resilience through heartache. The single offers a preview of her forthcoming self-produced sophomore album, Slow Jam Love Letters To My Body In Pieces, due out on November 15 via North Street Records. Pre-orders for the album are available now.

“Hollow Heartbreak” was born from a place of emotional turmoil after a difficult breakup. Reflecting on the track, Stranger Cat shares, “I wrote this song to process the pain of losing someone close. The opening was meant to sound like angels weeping.” Layered with auto-tuned and textured with a soulful croon, the track progresses into a powerful : “I need you, I don’t need you anymore,” blending both catharsis and celebration into a dance-worthy escape. Stranger Cat describes the experience of creating the song as one of healing, transitioning from heartbreak to freedom in a synth-soaked 808 dance party.

The upcoming album, Slow Jam Love Letters To My Body In Pieces, is an intimate and reflective work created while Stranger Cat was recovering from a series of debilitating injuries. During a period of forced isolation due to a dance injury and a subsequent serious accident that left her healing in a wheelchair for five months, Stranger Cat used music as a vehicle for both physical and emotional recovery. “These songs were written during a three-year period when I had to drop out of life and heal. I wanted to put my pain on display, but also make it sexy and artistic,” she says.

From her bed, Stranger Cat produced ten tracks that captured the frustration, pain, and yearning for connection. The album’s sound is described as orchestral synth-pop, blending sparkly synths, layered vocals, and 808-driven beats. Her intention? To give herself and listeners permission to feel deeply, then dance through the emotions, alone or together.

Stranger Cat has earned recognition for her distinct electronic art-pop style since the release of her album In The Wilderness in 2015. Her work has been celebrated by Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum, and NPR, among others. her solo career, Stranger Cat, born Cat Martino, has collaborated with artists like Sufjan Stevens, Sharon Van Etten, The Shins, and Lucius. Most recently, she contributed vocals to Scott Guild’s Plastic: The Album, which has accumulated over 250,000 streams.

Fans can catch Stranger Cat live in NYC and Brooklyn on October 26 and 27, where she will perform alongside Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds. With Slow Jam Love Letters To My Body In Pieces, Stranger Cat transforms isolation into art, heartbreak into empowerment, and pain into beauty.

“Hollow Heartbreak” is out now, and Stranger Cat’s new album will follow on November 15. Stay connected with Stranger Cat via Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube for more updates and upcoming releases.
