Following its long-awaited U.S. debut, Your Shot—the world’s only no-experience-required DJ competition and music academy—has closed out its first-ever Los Angeles and New York City showcases, drawing record crowds and spotlighting two standout winners whose stories embody the program’s core mission. Across two days in each city, thousands gathered to witness more than 500 first-time American DJs step behind the decks, many for the first time, after completing intensive training designed to turn curiosity into confidence and passion into performance.

The 2025 U.S. season welcomed over 300 contestants in Los Angeles and more than 250 in New York City, reinforcing Your Shot’s commitment to opening DJ culture to anyone willing to take the leap. Participants arrived from all walks of life, including individuals overcoming personal challenges, adapting their learning styles, and traveling long distances for the opportunity to perform. What unfolded went beyond technical instruction—contestants formed genuine connections, built community outside of sessions, and developed creative confidence that extended far beyond the booth. Guided by expert mentors and hands-on workshops, the program encouraged artistic discovery, skill-building, and personal growth in an inclusive, supportive environment.

In Los Angeles, more than 5,500 people attended the two-day showcase, marking the largest crowd ever hosted at Catch One. Ashley Wilkins, performing under the name Jelly Bean, emerged as the city’s champion after delivering an electrifying set rooted in dubstep and bass music. The 29-year-old Santa Clarita resident, who works as a consultant for wellness clinics and medspas, realized a lifelong dream on stage while forging friendships that will last well beyond the competition.

Meanwhile, New York City welcomed 4,000 attendees across its two showcase days. There, Jade Letlow, known onstage as Punky Butter, claimed the NYC title with smooth, crowd-pleasing house and techno sets. A 34-year-old Brooklyn resident and Senior Claims Examiner by day, Letlow credited the program with expanding her confidence, sharpening her creative voice, and connecting her to a wider music community.

As part of their win, the U.S. champions will take the next step in their journeys by performing on major festival stages. One winner is set to play Elements Music & Arts Festival, the immersive three-day event in the Pocono Woodlands, while the other will spin at CRSSD, San Diego’s iconic waterfront festival. These appearances bring the Your Shot experience full circle, demonstrating how the program transforms everyday music lovers into confident performers ready for national stages.

Founded in 2010, Your Shot has already impacted thousands of aspiring DJs across Australia and New Zealand, creating an accessible entry point into electronic music culture. More than a competition, the program equips participants with lifelong skills, meaningful connections, and the confidence to pursue new creative paths—continuing its legacy of inclusion, empowerment, and community-building.
