You may have never heard of Yonderville Music and Arts Festival, but it’s one that should be on your radar. The small grassroots festival has been expanding rapidly since it’s founding in 2017, all while keeping true to their mission to “excite and influence positive change within our community”. This year, Yonderville is taking things to the next level with a lineup made for true bassheads on Marvin’s Mountaintop in West Virginia.
Headlining this year’s festival is G Jones, one of the most highly sought out Bass acts in the last year. Rolling Stone has called G Jones a “studio wizard,” collaborating with the likes of Bassnectar, Bleep Bloop, and Buku. When reviewing G Jones’ first album single, “UNDERSTANDING THE POSSIBILITY”, Billboard Magazine said “That’s what listening to G Jones will do. It’s a mental minefield of sudden drops and stutters, bass lines that open holes under your feet and send you shooting sideways to some warped mystery land.” He twists the listener’s mind in ways no one else can.
Continuing the wonky-heavy lineup is Mersiv, Yheti, and Eprom, all of whom have taken over the Bass scene as of late. Other heavy hitters are Russ Liquid and VCTRE, along with who I’m most excited for, Khiva. Khiva’s vibration is dark, deep, and sometimes what I can only describe as twisted. Her ability to create low-frequency soundscapes is something I’ve been yearning to see since I first discovered her last year.
What Yonderville also really does well is bringing in the lesser-known up and coming acts. Hailing from my own local area acts like Big City, Frush, Choppy Oppy and be.IN will be taking the stage. These are just some of the hardworking producers who have been killing the regional scene that will get the chance to showcase their art on the mainstage to a group of attendees who are there for all the right reasons: the deep-rooted love of Bass music.
Yonderville was founded after a devastating loss, but by creating the festival something beautiful was able to transpire. It’s now a festival with an atmosphere that stimulates love, acceptance, and asks you to come as you are. Come join the community on June 4th-6th, 2020 on Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, West Virginia. Tickets start at only $199 with camping included.
