Wooli Brings Prehistoric Bass to Rawhide Event Center

Rawhide Event Center was sent back to the prehistoric age last weekend when Wooli brought out his mammoth-sized sounds. Supported by a stacked lineup with heavy hitters in the bass scene like Level Up and Mad Dubz. It was a night filled with neck-breaking good vibes that won’t soon be forgotten, as the lawn was overtaken by a massive crowd of headbangers.

The night started right with easy parking and entry. Relentless Beats chose to split the well-known warehouse in half to have the security and ID check inside, out of the hot Arizona sun. After quickly moving through security, the main event was held outside on the lawn with a large stage structure constructed at one end, and the entirety of the sides filled with drink booths and merch stands. I filled up on the available free water and headed to the front of the stage for my first and biggest surprise of the evening, Capochino.

Capochino blew me away immediately with his hard-hitting wonky sounds. The flow between his heavy sounds mixed perfectly with some funky beats that had the buts in the crowd shaking. His songs Trippy and Woke Symphony have already been placed high up in my Spotify playlist after hearing this one set. All of it was tied together with some very colorful, trippy visuals that made this set feel like a mainstage headliner set instead of just an opener. Capochino set the bar high for the next surprise for me, Probcause.

Probcause came out heavy, slamming the crowd with some straight dubstep beats to break their necks. It wasn’t long before he started mixing in his own trap beats into the heavy beats while providing live rap vocals as he mixed. This set then quickly turned into a funky vibe as the raps got the crowd moving. Probcause played out a new collab he’s working on with Liquid Stranger before asking the crowd if they wanted to hear some unreleased stuff with Griz. The crowd roared, begging for any new Griz music they could get, and Probcause gave it to them. The rest of the set was pure funky dubstep that had every single person in the crowd moving. I wasn’t sure if we were ready for the heavy riddim of Automhate B2B Mad Dubz up next.

After the opening funky house of the early night, now was the time to truly break your neck when The Brothers, also known as Automhate B2B Mad Dubz, stepped up to break the crowd. The duo put this massive sound system through its paces with huge sounds that left ears ringing. Automhate played out his new collab with Dion Timmer, and Mad Dubz took his turn to play his new collab with Wooli. The SpongeBob song slamming into a riddim drop had the crowd screaming, and they closed out with a new heavy drum and bass drop. The Brothers got the crowd properly hyped up for Level Up.

Level Up took the stage with the massive sounds that she is known for carrying in such a small package. She started with her own remix of Subtronics’ and Hol!’s massively successful collab, Mind Pluck, but she somehow made it heavier. Her set was filled with the most amazing energy as she didn’t stop jumping around behind the decks while still managing to showcase her mixing talents. Level Up’s new collab with Kai Watch was a standout, slamming me in the face with the bass sounds. I was having so much fun this set flew by, and before I knew it was time for Wooli.

As Wooli came to the stage, the massive production was brought into full life with extra lasers kicking on and massive pyro flames flanking the stage. His set started off with so many unreleased IDs I lost count, but I screamed as the VIP of his Griz collab Chaos Theory blasted through the sound system. Mad Dubz came back out on stage for another collab Wooli and him have in the works. Wooli even invited Level Up back out to play a new song he’s making with her and Subtronics. The new Robo Kitty remix was a wonderful surprise, and a whole bunch of more unreleased Griz collabs topped off my favorite Wooli set I have seen.

It was another wonderful night spent at Rawhide Event Center, filled with amazing music and even more amazing vibes. I can’t wait to do it again in a few weeks for the upcoming Goldrush music festival, September 12th and 13th.
