Will Clarke is the DJ for the Bass and Tech-House loving crowd. Hailing from Britain and featured on labels such as Dirtybird, Relief, and Drumcode, he deserves recognition not only for his heavy, addictive sound but for his evident love for the House genre and its fans.
A perfect example of Will Clarkes’ devotion to his sound can be found in his must-hear monthly radio show, “The Barber Shop”. A tongue-in-cheek nod to his well-groomed beard, the start of each episode has him welcoming listeners to their ‘appointment,’ before introducing his featured artist for that episode who will be receiving ‘a trim in the barbers’ chair.’ The show has seen a massive range of talent over its forty-eight episode run; you can listen to Will Clarke’s Dirtybird teammates such as Claude VonStroke, Walker & Royce, and Ardalan, as well as other heavy hitters such as Lee Foss, MK, and Lane 8. There’s always something new to discover, with hidden bangers galore, but no matter who’s playing, the mixing on each set is as well-groomed as Will Clarke’s epic beard. A DJ’s radio show not only displays their love for their music and the genre but a love for the fans. It’s a gift, being able to listen to an electrifying, free set whenever you want.
As soon as you’ve had a few appointments in the Barber Shop, you’ll be aching for more. And more is on the way. Will Clarke is gearing up for his North American tour starting in just under a month, much to the excitement of die-hard Dirtybird fans. The “All We Have Is Now” tour is named for Will Clarke’s highly anticipated upcoming first label, which will launch with its first release on January 20th. Kicking off January 24th at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco, the tour will also feature Will Clarke playing exclusively open-to-close sets, which is not only a treat for his fans but “something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.” The tour will see him hit eighteen stops throughout North America, including Houston, New York, and my own hometown haunt, Toronto’s Coda. If you don’t see your city on the list, don’t despair–Will Clarke has promised more tour dates to be added. So visit your barber and clean up, because Will Clarke is about to trim you down with his funky sound.
