‘When We Were Young’ Festival Proves Emo Was Not a Phase

by Eric Valencia

Pull out your black eyeliner and your skinny jeans, and get ready to relive your long-lost Warped Tour memories. Live Nation is bringing you some of the biggest names from the 2000s emo scene in their inaugural When We Were Young Festival. Headlining the event will be the iconic My Chemical Romance and Paramore. With the last two years being the nightmare that just won’t end, I can’t wait to scream out “I’M NOT OKAY!”

When We Were Young takes place October 22nd, 2022 at Las Vegas Festival Grounds in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will go from 11 AM to 11 PM and consist of three stages. If you are doing the math, that’s not a lot of time for 65 bands to play. Rumor has it that each stage will physically rotate. This will allow the next band to sound-check and prepare while the onstage band is finishing their set, which would remove the 15-minute teardown/setup that is typical between sets. Official details have yet to be released, and this obviously won’t do anything to help with set-time conflicts even if true.

The full lineup has been released, and it is incredible. Also featured will be: AFI, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, A Day to Remember, Story of the Year, Mayday Parade, Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, Thursday, Avril Lavigne, Horrorpops, Silverstein, The Wonder Years, and many more. While the price for this single-day festival is not insignificant, GA starting at $224.99, this possibly is one of your last opportunities to see all these legendary bands together.
