by The Freaks - Staff

Paul Oakenfold – ‘Shine On’

“I feel incredibly lucky to be in a position where I’m able to work with this caliber of vocalists and producers; from legends like Benny Benassi to Eve to Cee Lo Green and Aloe Blacc. ‘Shine On’ has been a labor of love for me over the past two years, and a new album is just as exciting for me now, three decades plus into my career, as it was for me at the start.”

Talla 2XLC & Rinaly – ‘Mirage’

Talla 2XLC unites his creative forces with Japanese Rinaly for the ultimate trance anthem, ‘Mirage’ on That’s Trance. Composed by the bible of trance with thumping beats, pulsating and driving basslines, tough metallic kicks, acid layers, plenty of sweet, emotional, yet carefree melodies and ghostly trance vocals. The atmospheric breakdown comes quite early with a super strong dramatic main synthy hook and an infectious emotional climax.

The cut opens with a rip roaring energy before stripping back to a melodic-driven break that’s drenched in euphoria, proving its worth for both main-stage and at-home listening. Following an expertly crafted build, the track drops into full anthemic mode, led by its hypnotic synth lead and tenacious kick. Intoxicating from start to finish the pair have achieved the seemingly impossible; composing a trance hit that harmoniously champions their respective sounds, whilst staying true to the roots of the genre.

So, we had to finish the story right, and that’s ‘When The Lights Go Down’.”

NGHTMRE – ‘UNSOUND’

“The UNSOUND EP is a bit of a preface for my upcoming album. I have been working on lots of new music throughout the year and these are some of my favorite collaborations I’ve done! I think the EP has a perfect balance of heavy, festival-ready tunes, as well as some more easy listening melodic. Everyone who worked on this EP is incredibly talented and I think deserves more recognition for their work. I hope this EP brings to light some of the amazing under-appreciated artists who helped write this music.”

DVRKO – ‘Undone’

“It’s been a goal of mine to create a beautiful piece of work to really show people what DVRKO is all about, this was initially supposed to be an EP (5 songs) and as I fell into months of creation it birthed itself into a full length album. I created the album [‘Undone’] at my home studio on loads of modular and vintage synths. Had the opportunity to work with some amazing vocalists, Rama Duke, RUNN, Tyler Graves and SIRAH. Ultimately I did what felt good and honest to me, feel good house records for the exception of the hard hitting ‘Talk That Shit’ with SIRAH which is prob one of my favs from the body of work. Coming back from performing at EDC I was so inspired it just came naturally. I’ve been working really hard building modular synths and sound design.”
