We can recall Conrank making songs like “Easy Does it” with Bassnectar, or his music on the Convoy LP that sent bass heads to another dimension of joy. We knew he slaps, but now, an entire LP has dropped and I’m buying new subwoofers.
Releasing “What’s A Fucking Conrank” through Circus Records, Conrank came back with a vengeance. To make this even more of a gift, he brought in some renowned heavy-steppers in the scene.
Some pals of his from Circus Records came through like Mark The Beast whose name will now be more recognized because their track “System Up” is brutal. “System Up” is one of my personal favorites off of the LP. With some creepy outer space, alien sex type sound, they made a true masterpiece with a STOMPING drop.
Another one we know and love from Circus Records is Dirt Monkey. He’s been around and headlined at major festivals for years because he’s the shit and everyone knows it. Track number eight, “Level 8,” was made by Conrank and Dirt Monkey and it was exactly the wonkiness we need and crave.
Other than Circus Records, some madmen were still brought to the scene for this LP such as my Lord and Savior Space Jesus. Track 14 “Meatball Parm” had been out on Soundcloud, but my heart is warm at the nonstop spaghetti time.
Conrank truly came through with a variety of sidekicks from all over the world. I was introduced to ONJUICY from Japan, Charmae from NYC, Drezza from SoCal,… The variety of hard-hitting sounds brought together made this LP a hefty journey to adventure on.
Most recently touring with Flux Pavilion on the 10 Years of Circus Tour, Conrank is a true beast this year. These 13 tracks are complicated, varietal, and dense. I won’t miss the chance to see this unfold at Wakaan this year with his heavy hitters. Don’t miss your opportunity to melt your face – if you haven’t seen Conrank, he’s #1 on your Must-See List.
