Bassrush Massive boomed its way through Arizona this weekend and all we have to say is…wow. This festival was a refreshing change of pace for Arizona ravers, bringing the heavy bass music to a community that is often bumping much more house and techno.
Since the late 90’s, Bassrush has been delivering immaculate festival production to different venues around the United States. They began by featuring primarily drum and bass, but have since evolved into showcasing dubstep and a wide range of other bass genres. Bassrush, teamed up with Relentless Beats, who never fails to impress us with the lineups they drop, they really knocked it out of the park for this year’s edition. The 2018 Arizona lineup included: Sejo, Hekler, Badklaat, Midnight Tyrannosaurus, Space Jesus, G Jones, NGHTMRE, and Zeds Dead. As mentioned earlier, Arizona is not usually bursting with heavier bass music, so we were stoked for these artists to introduce many attendees to something new! In conversations with ravers after the show, they made it very clear that many of them loved the performers and now have “the itch” to headbang at another show. Us too, you guys, us too.
Many of the artists from Bassrush are making crazy moves right now. In fact, NGHTMRE just released his new track with The Chainsmokers, “Save Yourself,” this past week. He also headlined a B2B set with Excision at Bass Canyon the day after Bassrush! G Jones’s debut album, The Ineffable Truth, is set to come out this fall. In addition to the album, his Ineffable Truth tour is coming to a city near you and he has hinted about the wild visuals that will be accompanying his music, visuals that he has personally been taking part in curating. Also, Zeds Dead have been plenty busy continuing their stellar Deadbeats tour across the United States and Canada.
When it feels as if most of the festival season is winding down, in Arizona, Relentless Beats is just getting started. Cooler weather is on its way, but Arizona festivals are only getting hotter! In addition to a few upcoming tour stops from artists like Glitch Mob, Snails, Seven Lions, and Zhu, huge events like GoldRush and Decadence will be here before 2018 is over.
If Bassrush is any indication of what’s to come for the future of Relentless Beats events in Arizona, then it is going to be MASSIVE! Our advice? Say hi to the Fresh Music Freaks team at Goldrush and do not miss Liquid Stranger’s set.
