Wakaan family! Our favorite label has finally answered our prayers and announced the first ever Wakaan Festival, to take place October 3rd-6th at a yet to be disclosed location.
Wakaan space bosses Liquid Stranger and Space Jesus have been teasing fans in their Facebook groups for years about this. The label had an absolutely massive year in 2018 with some of the best releases in recent memory, including Cognition, by Luzcid, and my favorite: Bugs for Breakfast, by Toadface. 2018 also saw the debut releases of some exciting new artists on Wakaan. These included Peekaboo, LSDream, Lucii, and G-Rex.
Now all the attempts to manifest what was once a pipe dream into reality have turned to speculation about where it might be. Because it is taking place in October, most people are reasoning that it will either be held somewhere in the southeast, somewhere near Liquid Stranger’s home in Arizona, or possibly at the Mariposa Fairgrounds in California (where they hold the Untz festival). My fingers are crossed for Spirit of Suwannee music park in northern Florida (where Hulaween is held annually).
Fans are also clamoring to find out what kind of special sets are in the works for us. Some people are wishing for a Space Jesus b2b with Liquid Stranger. I am personally praying to Space Jesus to deliver another downtempo set like the one he played at Camp Bisco this year! I also would not be at all upset to see the Guccimen play live or maybe a Yheti sunrise set!
Regardless of where it takes place, tickets are sure to sell quickly. Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements about the lineup and ticket sales!
