Ahh yes, Memorial Day Weekend; the days that mark the beginning of summer in the northeastern region of the United States. It was an absolutely beautiful day at HQ2 in Atlantic City and we got to celebrate the shining sun rays with the legend, Armin van Buuren!
Once I heard that the king of trance was slated to perform at HQ2 Beachclub, I knew where I was going to be on Memorial Day Weekend. The anticipation was real!
My friends and I strolled down the boardwalk towards the venue with a hop in our step, singing our favorite vocal trance tunes at the top of our lungs! Passerby’s probably thought we were crazy, but that’s okay because we were about to have the time of our lives.
Beautiful weather, breathtaking music!
We stepped into the venue and Estiva was warming up the dancefloor with his progressive beats. I remember hearing a couple of the IDs that Armin had played during his 3.5 hour ASOT set at Ultra Music Festival. Needless to say, whoever those tracks belong to needs to release them ASAP because they are absolute bangers! It didn’t take long for the floor to fill up with starry-eyed fans. You could tell the whole crowd was there to be taken into A State Of Trance.
When Armin van Buuren took his place behind the decks, the whole crowd went wild — including myself. Starting us off with epic intro track, ‘Resistance De L’Amour’, we were already jumping up and down feeling the beat.
The mastermind behind Armada took us on a roller coaster ride of music; from unique and original remixes like Armin’s take on rock classic ‘Jump’ to fresh and updated remixes of trance anthems like Maurice West’s take on ‘ResuRection’ by Planet Perfecto Knights. Of course, Armin ended his set with the ever-popular, ‘Blah Blah Blah’, which had fans in the pool making waves and everyone else was off the ground chanting along!
Can we do it all over again?! The answer is yes!
What a day! There’s nothing better than trance, tequila and a tropical vibe — all of which I experienced that day. And in two short weeks, Armin van Buuren and Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano will be beginning their summer residency at the most tropical isle of them all, Ibiza.
If you’ve never experienced a show on the White Isle, you need to make this year your first. If you’ve already been, you know what I’m talking about and you know that you shouldn’t be missing out either. With these talented artists taking over Hï Ibiza every Wednesday from June 12th until September 11th, you’re going to want to be there.
