Canadian producer and DJ Torcha makes a thunderous return with the release of his latest body of work, the Monolith EP, out now via HypnoVizion.
Living up to its name, Monolith stands as a towering force of low-end pressure, minimalist intensity, and sonic experimentation. Across four dense and unrelenting tracks, Torcha explores the darker, greyer shades of dubstep, fusing modern 140 BPM influences with gritty textures, calculated distortion, and deep sub-driven grooves. The result is a potent blend of club-ready weaponry and forward-thinking production finesse.
The EP’s crown jewel, “Syndicate”, sees Torcha link up with fellow rising force skxllflower. The track is a venomous, high-impact dubstep cut, forged for rupturing sound systems with its relentless energy, glitched-out patterns, and heavy pressure basslines.
“I wanted to explore the grey areas of dubstep while making a cohesive and dancefloor-ready four-track EP,” explains Torcha. “I was inspired by the modern 140 BPM elements we’re hearing today, using classic dubstep elements and experimenting with distortion.”
Hailing from Toronto, Torcha has quickly built a reputation for crafting cavernous soundscapes and stripped-back, minimalist bass music rooted in the foundations of UK dubstep. Since launching the project in 2022, he’s earned co-signs from heavyweights like Zeds Dead, PEEKABOO, and Skream, and continues to expand his sonic reach across genres such as Drill, Grime, and Gqom.
Following previous standout releases on HypnoVizion like “Darkness” with NotLö and “Mucus” with Jiqui, the Monolith EP further cements Torcha as a vital force in the next wave of experimental bass music.
