Two of Canada’s rising forces in the bass scene—Torcha and Jiqui—have collided for a monstrous new single, “Mucus,” out now on HypnoVizion. Living up to its grotesque title, the track is a filthy, face-melting dive into the murky depths of dubstep, engineered to tear through speakers and obliterate festival dancefloors.
“Mucus” oozes raw energy, driven by thick, guttural basslines, piercing percussive hits, and the kind of unhinged sound design that turns heads and shatters expectations. True to the ethos of HypnoVizion, the single pushes the sonic envelope, showcasing the label’s continued commitment to spotlighting boundary-pushing Canadian bass music.
“I’m super stoked to be releasing this collab with a fellow Canadian artist,” says Jiqui. “Torcha has been absolutely killing it and I’m really happy we got to link up and work on some music.”
Based in Toronto, Torcha has built a reputation for deep, minimal, and sub-driven 140 dubstep that echoes the roots of the UK underground. Since launching in 2022, his genre-blending style has drawn support from icons like Zeds Dead, PEEKABOO, and Skream, while his tracks explore everything from grime and drill to gqom. After his HypnoVizion debut with NotLö on “Darkness,” Torcha has taken his sound to key festival stages including Infrasound Equinox, Wakaan, and Submersion.
Meanwhile, Jiqui—a Vancouver native now based in Los Angeles—continues his rise as one of bass music’s most consistent and explosive talents. Known for his genre-hybrid approach across dubstep and trap, he’s collaborated with heavyweights like Kayzo, Kompany, and Must Die!, while releasing on labels like Disciple, Bassrush, and the now-defunct Never Say Die. With appearances at massive festivals like Lost Lands, Rampage Open Air, and Bass Canyon, plus tour runs with Riot Ten, Marauda, and Kayzo, Jiqui’s ascent is unstoppable.
“Mucus” is available now on all streaming platforms. Tap in and prepare for a full-throttle ride through the raw, relentless world of Canadian bass music.
