Top 10 Tracks From Self-Proclaimed House Enthusiast | #HNTT

by The Freaks - Staff

I’d like to say I’m an avid House enthusiast. Hell, I’d even say I’m a little obsessed. When I came upon the idea to create my ultimate house music list, I thought it would be a somewhat simple task… I was wrong. After scouring through my lengthy music library and listening to each song, I think I’ve finally correlated a list that I think any house lover can appreciate. The tracks I have chosen resonate with me deeper than most people can understand. Whether you’re here to judge my taste, reminisce with me, or find some new bangers, here are my Top 10 House Tracks (in no particular order because honestly, putting them in order would be torture).

1. Claude VonStroke- The Rain Break

So Claude VonStroke has to be one of my idols. If any of you know me personally you know that Dirtybird is my life. “The Rain Break” is a super groovy track. Listening on quality speakers shows just how fabulous this song is (plus the music video is a visual masterpiece!)

2. Emoh Instead – Why Can’t You (Say So) (Benson Remix)

This track is pretty pivotal to my love of house music. After finding this song and scouring more of Benson’s tracks, I realized I actually was at his set at Falls Music Festival in Australia- though I had no idea who this Melbourne based producer was at the time. I’d have to say my favourite part of this track is the beautiful layers of the female vocals.

3. Walker & Royce- Take Me To Your Leader (Radio Edit)

Walker & Royce have to be one of the best house duos in the scene. Formed in 2011, Sam Walker and Gavin Royce have meticulously crafted their own distinct sound. “Take Me To Your Leader” is a great example of what their music is all about. This track is bouncy and guaranteed to move dat booty!

4. Nick Hannam- Homeless

Jackin’ House and I go way back. This track was my 2013 summer theme song. Nick Hannam is a UK based producer and a legend in the Jackin’ House genre. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any new stuff from him since 2018.

5. Dr. Fresch- No Love

Dr. Fresch is the creator of Future Ghetto. Future Ghetto is described as a unique blend of hip-hop/rap and elements of house music, and “No Love” is just that. A remix of the song “Scrubs” by TLC, this track takes the R&B soul and adds a unique house sound making this track an absolute banger.

6. One True God- I Love It (One True God Remix)

In my #HNTT article, I wrote about the “Darker Side of House Music” where I introduced One True God. He has now taken up a huge portion of my likes in SoundCloud. I am a little bit obsessed with this producers sound. It’s dark, gritty, and sexy- which is everything I want out of a house track, and this has all of that.

7. Kyle Watson- Black Looks ft MAMA – E’Z (Kyle Watson Remix)

Kyle Watson has to be one of the biggest producers to come out of South Africa. This producer has a unique sound that has made him one of the biggest House artists with fans from all around the globe.

8. Shiba San- Okay

The first time I heard Shiba San was at Shambhala Music Festival in 2015. I was walking past the Pagoda Stage and this song dragged me in. “Okay” was No. 1 on Beatport’s House Chart for 82 days straight. Now if that doesn’t tell you how good this track is then I don’t know what will!

9. Claude Von Stroke- Make A Cake

Poppa Claude is back again to make the cut on my Top 10 list! This is true Dirtybird right here. It’s hilariously funky, not to mention another brilliant music video starring a blonde babe and an inflatable orange frog? A weird combination, I know, but it’s cinematic perfection.

10. Henry Krinkle- Stay (Justin Martin Remix)

Last but not least, what would a House playlist be without a little Justin Martin? This San Fransisco based producer has been making waves in the House world for quite some time. Justin Martin is, of course, another Dirtybird legend to make the cut on my list. “Stay” is a beautiful masterpiece.
